Hub Dust Cap

I have Easylube hubs (which I never lube). The OEM dust caps are white.
For some reason, that I can not explain, the right rear dust cap broke, leaving part of the dust cover in the hub. Although the cap was contained by the wheel hub cover, the center part of the cover, which is a separate part that snaps into the cover, was gone. Any ideas?
The replacement part sent to me by my dealer is clear. I thought that the clear covers were for oil bath hubs, but this one has the rubber plug in the center for accessing the grease zerk. Is it correct?

All of the white dust caps will crack and fall off eventually. Adding the white pigment made them brittle. The fix is to use the clear caps. You should be doing this on all of the wheels.

You will want to replace ALL of them with the clear ones. As the white ones are to brittle. They may be cracked and you would not know it. They make sure that no water/moisture gets to the greased bearings.
The torque spec for that center cap is 19 ftlbs.
This was a know issue 2 years ago, I would have thought that they stopped using the white caps.
As for as the zerk, I would not pump any grease through it. There is one that looks like it is for the rear bearing. But you might blow out the seal greasing through that zerk fitting also.
I check to see if there is any play in the bearings every 6 months. As long as there is no play and no evidence of the front cap leaking or the rear seal. Then I consider it good to go.
I would call DRV directly and let them know that you need all four of them. They shipped them to me when I called them.
I would inspect and repack your bearings to be safe.
Bumped the old thread about this.
