If you had it to do over again

Question, if you had it to do over again and prices were closer together would you buy your DRV again or would you possibly buy a New Horizons and not do anything different than what's in your rig?

I'm mainly wondering from those of you with units built since Thor took over.

If pigs had wings, they might fly. NH is clearly at a higher limited production price point we're unable to justify with our budget. Regardless of the pre Thor holdings folklore we'd most likely repeat our expenditure. DRV is still commands a niche' we're comfortable with. We're exposed to many brands, models, yrs. and they all have their warts. We don't believe perfection exists in the current RV industry. I think everyone needs to adhere to their own unique needs and wants.

I'll stick with DRV. Like was said, they all have warts. My neighbor has a 2016 Newell coach. Way north of 1.5 mil. He has been back to the factory for "adjustments" a lot.
DRV is not perfect, but they are right at the price point I want. And I can fix all the little stuff and the factory has shown me great support on many other occasions. Treat them with respect and they will bend over backwards. Walk in with a chip on your shoulder and leave unsatisfied.

Having sold RV's in the past, owned 2 fifth wheels, a class C, a Class A diesel pusher, popups, tents and a travel trailer, there is nothing out there that is perfect. The closest rig I had to that was a Foretravel. I never bought new and never will. Having said all of that, when wife and I were at the Tampa show this year, we looked at New Horizon and we were not impressed. Again, just our opinion and all we went to look for those two days were 4 manufactures of fifth wheels, DRV being one of them.

Our DRV is suiting us well. If I could build this floor plan and add several more items I would. Primarily heated floors, painted walls, solid Dow blue foam walls, spray foam insulation in the front cap and back cap. Add an RO water system, mini split heat and air, Solar, and Volta battery system, Truma hot water, real electric dump valves (NOT Valterra or Waste master) FireFly operating system and we would be really happy.
We had a build about ready for SpaceCraft RV but plans changed and we needed a 4 season RV immediately.

If you spray foamed every wall and front and rear cap, I would think it would be to ridged. As you need some flex while driving down a bumpy road. I really like the heated floor option. It would take the chill out when it gets cool.
I looked at New Horizons when we looked at DRV. We were at the Hershey RV show and walked through a New Horizons and the sales people did not even acknowledge us. So we eliminated them.
I would not change what we purchased at all. We love our DRV and call it home.

Thanks for the comments. We are about to switch from a 42' class A to a 5th wheel and between the 2 brands. The floorplan we are looking at is very much the same between the two but the extra cargo capacity and location of the generator in the New Horizon is very appealing to me. But it's a hefty upcharge between the 2 brands just for those 2 features. But then again they are huge in my book.

Is the generator located in the backside or rear of the NH? We have the 5500 up front and even though it is under the bed area, it is fairly quiet. Hope not to use it too much once we install the 1200 watts of solar on top!

The NH gen is located right behind the axles, well no real axles with the Moreride but you get what I mean. We have 1120 watts of solar on our current motorhome and plan to at least but 600 plus watts on whatever 5th wheel we get at the start and maybe expand from there. Not having a gen take up cargo space is one of the 2 main reasons we are looking at NH.

There is also a huge difference in insulation between the 2. DRV has a problem over time of the batten type insulation falling down. And it is a production trailer vs a trailer that had a little more personal attention.
