Lube Plate size ??
What size Lube plate are you guys using? It looks like I can get either a 10 inch (#8300) or a 12 inch (#8300)
Thanks

Take my advice and buy one from Hensley. Mine is 10" and 1/8" thick NOT 1/4". With the thick jaws of the B&W it is much easier to see when you have taken the load off the hitch with the 1/8" disk. If the disk does not fit tight lay it on concrete and tap the inner circle of the plate with a hammer and it will tighten right up.
I bought two incase someone takes mine or something happens to one.

I was going to buy two. One to keep as a back up, because you never know.

So this won't be to thick? Do you have a link to one? Google only comes up with forums mentioning it. No retailers. So far this is the only thing that I can find with the specs that you gave. 5th Wheel Lube Plate

Probably because Hensley is selling it. I just know it's a good one. The black one may be just as good? Yes Hensley's are more than any other I have seen I figured since it's not the norm being 1/8" made it more money.

Any good lithium based wheel bearing grease will do. I happen to have Valvoline in the shop right now but have used everything from Lubriplate to Mobil 1.
Even if you use a plastic lube plate, the pin and jaws still need to be lubricated as do the pivot points on the firth wheel. If you have a trail air pinbox, don't forget the zerk fittings INSIDE the unit. Most people just lube the zerks they see on the outside.
That is the reason I don't use a lube plate, I'm already there greasing everything else, might as well use grease on the plate as well.

I had the lube plate installed on the hitch head. Works well for me.

We use the Brinkley 32k head and a 1/8" Teflon disc. It fits tight and hooks up easily.

Looking at the pictures here, are you guys not lubing the jaws and pin at all? Just wondering because I lube all contact points that involve metal to metal.

I will take one pump out of the grease gun and smear on the B&W's jaws. Wipe clean when I unhook if I will be setting for a while. Not good to let sand accumulate.
