Exclamation Moryde hub cap seals

When doing one of my checks I noticed that the center cap seals for the hub bearings were breaking down, cracking/dry rotting. I wanted to make sure that I had a good seal as moisture can degrade bearings and shorten their life. So I called DRV, Moryde and Kodiak to find out a part number or dimensions for that seal. I was told the ONLY way to get it was that I had to buy a new cap for $30 some dollars per cap plus shipping. I went to every local Auto parts store and found a close match that I posted up on here. But it was still just the same plain black rubber seal. I wanted something that could hold up to the heat with out breaking down. After ordering several seals to find the correct one, I finally have a good match that I just received today. I will be installing these with in the next couple of days. I will also post an update in a year with how they are holding up. But for 30 times less then buying a cap assembly, it was a no brainer. I ordered 8 seals so I will have a spare set as a back up. This link is where I bought them from, -230 BV75 Brown FKM (Viton, Fluorocarbon) 75 Duro O-Rings [BV75230] : The O-Ring Store LLC, We make getting O-Rings easy!

Happy and safe travels.

YOU are DA Man!!! I have been wanting this info for a while now. My seals were destroyed at MORryde when I asked them to grease my bearings. They had the caps so tight it was VERY hard to pop them off.

THANKS!!!

Thanks, I have been wanting to do it for a while also. Just got off my arse and did it since we were parked for a bit of time. I emailed the sales manager and told him to stock up as the word is now out.
Glad that I could help Ron.

I intend to order a dozen of these ASAP. We used Viton O-rings, gaskets, seals and lined hoses in the Oil Industry for many years with great results. Hydrocarbons and heat will not break Viton down like rubber. Great find, Thanks.

You are welcome. I never had heard of Vitron until I started researching and looking for a better replacement. Glad to hear your positive opinion on Vitron.

I just posted the info on RV.net. My order won't go out until the 20th as they are out of stock.

This is what mine looked like after MORryde greased mine. The caps were a BUGGER to remove.

Those plastic caps are a pain to get off no matter what they're on. When I was working, we had a couple of trailers with them on the axles, broke more than one of them.

If your DRV came with the white caps, you are correct. They are thin and cheap. Because of that DRV would replace them with the thicker clear caps. Mine come off with no issue using the correct LARGE socket.

I was going to say, when I removed mine all it took was a pliers, very little effort. I never had any troubles with them leaking either. Now that I have greased bearings NO issues to speak of.

The caps I was referring to were on equipment trailers where I worked. These thing see almost daily use and the heat generated seemed to try to expand the caps to make them difficult to remove. After replacing the original caps, the problem was still there, but not as bad.

How many of you carry spare caps? When I had MOR/ryde IS installed on our current trailer I had them give me 4 extra caps, just thought they looked to flimsy.

Wasn't long before I broke one. Not realizing it I bounced a wheel a little be to hard on the hub one day and broke a cap.

Something to be aware of if you do your own maintenance.

Are yours white or clear? The white ones broke just by screwing them on.

I carry one spare clear center cap. Like Ron stated, if you have the white ones, they are JUNK! The clear ones are much stronger.

My originals and spares are all clear. I have never seen the white version.
