Why a Sidewinder? I don't know much about them but I thought they were a replacement for a slider hitch for short bed trucks. Anyone know what the TV was?

Most likely running a short bed MegaCab DRW.

Nope was pulling with a Volvo HDT. Needed a set back for more turning clearance due to bed obstructions.

No talk on the hitch brand yet, but there is plenty of speculation.

According to the Kirby's, they had traveled about 65 miles that day when the trailer came off, played Pong between the Jersey barriers, did not hit any other vehicles and came to a stop upright. They posted pictures of everything but the hitch head. Totaled and I think he mentioned some minor damage to the truck.
No injuries.

Note: Do not use the Sidewinder with any of the following:
Curt Q Series 5th-wheel trailer hitches
PullRite SuperGlide 5th-wheel trailer hitch
Reese Trail Boss 5th-wheel trailer hitch
B&W Companion 5th-wheel trailer hitches that mount in the Turnoverball gooseneck hole
Colibert 208BW 5th-wheel trailer hitch
Hi-Rise gooseneck-to-5th-wheel adapter by Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Bulldog and Reese
Any other gooseneck-to-5th-wheel adapter

Highest rating I have found in the past is 22K, but nothing new is listed over 19K.

When I was looking for short bed truck hitches I looked at this pinbox. I wouldn't use it on a 16K trailer let alone a 24K 3 axle. I don't care for the mechanicals of it.

Best I can tell, you have full pin weight on the pin, but it is not equal from front to back of the pin. this pin box pivots under the trailer connection, not at the pin. That would load the back side of the pin and unload the front side (top side).
