Got a recall notice from DRV yesterday about clips on brake calipers. 2018 thru 2021 models.

Are you referring to these clips?

ALL of mine were replaced at MORryde in August.

It's good to hear that DRV is taking the initiative to address this problem! The weak caliper clips have been a known problem for some time now. While at MORryde this summer they were actively replacing ALL of the faulty clips on the 9k axels as they were coming through their shop! That's per Gary Wheeler.

Like I said, the tech working on my trailer had orders to replace those clips. Pryor to me going to MORryde ALL of my clips on the rear of my calipers were bent like in the pic I posted above. Most of the front clips weren't bent or very slightly bent. According to Gary Wheeler Dexter feels very confident they have found a viable correction for the caliper failure on their 9k axels, I HOPE so.....

I really don’t have a local dealer, wonder if I can get it done at factory?

If your unit isn't out of warranty the factory will work on it. DRV doesn't do work on "out of warranty" units any more. By that I believe anything older than 2 years from manufacture date.

Replacing the clips is fairly easy, the tires have to come off and then one by one you remove and replace those old clips.

I would think "any" RV dealer's service department could help you out with that. One problem I can see with that is "everybody" is booked out many months with service requests!

Good luck changing out your clips!

Dan

I don’t think it is DRV, I think it is Dexter. DRV is just sending out notices to the people registered to the vins.

My unit is a 2020, and I haven't received a notice. Does it also pertain to Moryde IS? Or are they different brakes?

Do you have 9K IS?
If so it’s probably in the range.

Brake clips have been a 9K problem since early 2018.
Our trailer was a ‘test bed’ of sorts with brake problems.

My friend has them on his 2016 DRV with 9k IS.

That era 9K is a different caliper and mounting bracket.

And IIRC was also subject to a recall for the slide bolts falling out.
