I'm thinking the water may be entering through this little ledge area above the hinge. After cleaning up the mechanism and applying White Lithium grease I ran a bead of caulk on the little ledge, there was a very slight gap. We'll keep a close eye on it and see if the caulking eliminates my water intrusion.

Dan, our latches looked just like that. Cleaned them up, applied some silicone and reinstalled. I have some sealant at the top of the hinges, but water is still seeping in as I found out yesterday with our monsoon we had!

At any rate, my '15 doesn't have the problem. I recently was cleaning all around the openings on both basement doors, checked the weep holes also--no sign of rust/leaks anywhere----yet.

Josb
Are your doors sealed around the perimeter ?

I'm using my generator and battery door to represent a side baggage and propane door, only pictures I had handy.

Mine have no sealant around this interface.

Seems to me that the door and frame assembly are supplied from a local vendor? I remember that my old Suites had Napponee Doors decal on the inside. Not sure this is still the case.
And, no, there is no sealant around the frame/door assembly on mine either.

Thanks for that idea Duane, I'll have to look at those seams closely. Another thing I did do yesterday while monkeying around with that basement door was to drill two extra weep holes in the bottom, I figured it can't hurt and may even help.

I hope I can get to the bottom of this leakage. I looked closely yesterday and I do NOT have water leaking into the basement, all of the water is seeping through the door and out the bottom via those weep holes. I just have to figure out where the water is entering. This is puzzling as the door on the opposite side doesn't have any water issues whats so ever.

You may be on to something with those examples you posted though! Thanks again!!!

Dan

I had a similar problem with a door quite a few years back when I had a fifth wheel. I finally decided the the problem was with water running down the side of the RV and pooling between the seal and the door. When I would open the door the water would run down. Sometimes if the pooling was large enough it would run down the rubber seal and pool at the bottom of the door. I got some small rubber gutter that was self adhesive and put in on above the door. the water that ran down the side was diverted and the problem was gone.

Seals may only last a couple years. Not typically covered by warranty either. I found standing water in two compartments on my 16 Palazzo 36.2. Not too difficult to DIY. The hardest part is finding material.

Sorry for the late reply Joe. Challenger Doors supplies all of the doors for our rig. From the entry door to the electric compartment door.

Well, Ryan, hope you are warm up there in the snow...
Did not know they changed compartment door vendors, and no labels on ours.
You have an electric compartment door?
Joe

Whoops, 'electric compartment' door is the cord reel compartment? Did not make that connection...
Battling low temps in N. TX. also, but no snow--might get to 65d tomorrow after last 4 days freezing at nights.

Talking of electric compartment doors, the door for my cord reel compartment fell off somewhere on the road, and I'm trying to find a replacement. Has anyone here replaced theirs?

Don't know about your 2015, but on our rig every door has a label with the part number. So the door on the oposite side should help if it is labeled.

Thanks Duane, unfortunately it's the bottom plastic door, where the cable exits. I should have made that clear.

Ahh, in that case, it is a fairly common part.
