Ron,
Don't do that--I'll figure it out when I get around to installing mine--about 2 weeks until I get home, the sat stuff is there already.
Got an email from Greg Weldon back that gives me a good diagram of what to look for and which cable goes where.
Thanks,
Joe

Too late Joe!! I already risked life and limb for ya!

Some connectors were not making good contact and they had some stretched so tight he had to splice in new sections of cable.

Well, thank you for doing that, appreciate the clear pic of what I am facing. Wonder if perhaps you should take the connections apart, clean good, install heat shrink tubing, retighten and shrink--that a good idea for something that is always in the weather?
Joe
I also called my ins agent to see if I would have been liable if you fell off the roof and hurt the ground...
Thanks again.

I suppose it would not hurt to do so. I doubt I will do anything.

Satellite wiring diagram

Got a nice reply from Greg Weldon, and he supplied this diagram for my Suites:

Sorry that its vertical instead of horizontal--was right when I uploaded it.

Try again to adjust the diagram... so far, I have the Hopper 3 hooked up to a pedestal mount temp antenna, working fine temporarily. Waiting for a different tech to install the antenna on the roof--Dish won't mess with an RV roof.
Also found out no way to transfer recording from an ext HD off a Wally to the Hopper 3.......

Sorry to hear that Joe, that sucks big-time. All you wanted to do was install and sit back and enjoy TV! Just darn it.

You would think these units would be quality tested before being boxed and shipped. Does Thor own Winegard too?

Was kind of concerned about the replacement process since I ordered from Amazon. Turned out almost too easy--called them, explained the problem, they said return it and emailed me the UPS label. UPS picked it up at the RV park this afternoon and tracking number says new one will be here tomorrow. Plan B on Wednesday.
The A/V tech (business owner himself) was out to install the Amazon stuff (he did not want to sell the hardware) and did an amazing job. Even the failed satellite did not phase him. First attempt at install was Sat; he came back out Sun and removed the antenna and boxed it up; also set up for me to use OTA/cable/ground antenna. He will be back on Wed to set the replacement up and hope it works. First one would only go in circles with the LNB straight up--Winegard told him to send it back.
Meanwhile, we have the Hopper/Joey up and running off the ground antenna--wife is happy she is back to having all recording options.

We have the Hopper 3 with the wireless Joey. So far, everything seems to be working as advertised. We only have the 2 TVs and can watch any channel on either one, and record in background at any time.
If you are ordering the hardware yourself, you should get the DPH42 switch to make the H3 work correctly. I also put the large metal plate under the antenna instead of the small roller plate--just thought it best to spread the weight out somewhat.
The wiring was in place as it was supposed to be, reachable under the first vent forward of the shower dome. For once, all the wires were labeled correctly and in the right place. The control box is in a cabinet to the side of the pantry (RSSA floorplan) where the control cable exited and next to a power outlet.
Still have a rat's nest of cabling in the ent ctr area behind the BOMB/DVR/Sony rcvr, wish I was good at organizing the wiring, but if I start taking things apart, I'll never get it back correctly...

if you plan to wire up a Dish Network receiver into an RV, I suggest you take a look at this guys blog/website. He is an Escapees member and has excellent write ups and diagrams of all kinds of Dish Network set ups.

Man, first time out with the new sat install that isn't under a tree canopy--push one button and was watching tv in about 8 minutes. If it continues to operate like that, I'll be as happy as my wife....who is busily trying to use up all 16 tuners to record stuff.

Can't beat it with a stick hey Joe? Glad it worked out for ya!
