Lightbulb Scare light bulb replacements

I know the bulb in the scare lights are 1156 automotive bulbs. I wanted to upgrade to an LED bulb as the take less voltage, more light and less heat. There are TONS of choices out there. Who’s had good results of an upgrade and what specificity did you use?
Thanks in advance.

The LED bulbs take the same voltage - 12 VDC. They take less current.

This is what I used in my non-DRV application:

But the LEDs used can vary, what LEDs are used, the way they are positioned and how in general when you compare them. They all are not the same. Plus my DRV scare lights are probably different than your non DRV lights. Just try to get apples to apples information. This is why I posted it in the DRV sub section vs the general or general maintenance sub section. I’ll add DRV in the title.

Why? Those bulbs may be in your DRV scare lights but 1156 bulbs are 1156 bulbs. It doesn't matter if they are in a DRV application. What matters is the construction of the LED replacement bulbs that go in your 1156 socket. Their is a wide variety of LED replacement 1156 bulbs, some with dim LEDs, some with poorly positioned LEDS, some with few LEDS. I told you what I found to be a quality 1156 LED replacement bulb. It should work fine for any 1156 bulb application, whether in a DRV fixture or not.

IMHO not worth the effort unless you use them a lot. Not sure if I have ever used ours.

If I did change them I would get the highest Kelvin rating. I used these on my Boat "AMAZON Shoreline Marine LED Replacement Bulb, #90" I wonder if something like this would work well?

I rarely use them also, but the few times I have it’s like a candle was lit.

Scare lights on a DRV are the lights at each corner of the rig. So there are 4 of them. They also light up when connected to your truck and you have it in reverse.

They don't light in reverse anymore.

I updated mine last year. Went to a auto parts house and got the 1156 LED forget what brand. Really didn't notice much difference except that the light is whiter. I have to agree with a few of the others they are pretty much worthless.
Next up is to find a light fixture of the same size that uses a LED panel instead of just a bulb.

That’s what I tried to explain to one person. The relation between the reflectors with the bulb.
Thanks

My 21 model has a straight strip of led's on the 4 corners. No real fixture. Bright white light. Work well

I think in 2018 they changed to that style. Mine are the 10-12” circular ones.

Cabinbright LED

We went 100% LED back in 2018. I've had good luck with these in the scare fixtures for these yrs. of using them almost nightly to take out the fur kid. They're (800+ Ln) and much brighter than the stock incandescent auto bulbs.

Joe stands behind his products and will cheerfully/promptly replace a defect item.

On a DRV fifth wheel, it is the round light near the roof at the front of the rig. Each of the four upper corners has such a light, and each side is operated by different switches. I think I've used ours more to help out a neighbor needing some light than I have for ourselves.

I converted to LED's a few years back, but my memory doesn't allow me to remember just which "bulbs" I used.
