Sliding Pocket Door

Hello folks, been awhile since I've posted. (Yes,I've had more strobing light issues.) Hope everyone is well and not having too many issues with their rigs. Anyway, has anyone else had issues with their pocket doors coming off the rear track during transport? I've tried locking the door closed and using the button strap to lock the door open, but neither have worked to prevent this issue. And it's a pain in the butt to reseat the frickin thing. I'll be taking another long trip here in a few days, and I'm thinking we're gonna try to shove a blanket under it or something to prevent any movement.

Just curious if anyone else has ran into this issue and what you did to resolve it.

We had same issue. I went to lowes and bought a pkg of four door hinge pins. I then drill a hole at a angle near top into frame and into door. My wife locks door open and installs pin as part of her ritual before traveling

Something is wrong with my door also. It is hard to open and close. And it will jump the lock and undo the upper snap. So now I have 3 bungee cords with micro fiber rags and a towel keeping the door from moving much in transit. They run from the handle in the hallway and to the one by the front door. I do this as I do not want to damage the door.

We put a spring rod across the hallway after locking and snapping the door in the open position.

Is there no real fix for this. What would a repair shop do?

Ditto. That's what we do. Last time it came loose it marred part of the door. Now it will not open without scrapping. I have to try and fix it.

X2 on what chiplynne does. Ours would never hold, the spring curtain rod holds it in place. I didn't want to drill any more holes or add anything else to try to hold it, it's pretty heavy.

I took off the upper snap strap including the mounted pcs. I took an old credit card and screwed thru it into the same two holes. Worked well for a long time. CC failed so I need to come up with something a bit stronger and also use flat head screws instead of the tapered head screws that pulled thru the plastic.

I am going to come up with a method to keep the bottom bolt in place also as it just pops up when traveling.

At home base now so it's time to do lots of things as I am now "my own warranty station" !

I like the idea of the spring rod I'll give that a go.

We have been using the spring curtain rod method for about 8 years now and have towed this Moble Suite 11 k miles and the previous Elite Suite close to 50 k miles with no door problems. We started using this method in 08 due to the door getting loose in our 38'TKSB3 the first time we pulled it and broke the bottom glass. We use as heavy duty a rod as we can find and they have alwayse stayed in place even on these extremely smooth Interstates we have all over the country. The Dallas we now have has 3 pocket doors,one between the kitchen and bathroom and two that slide together from both sides between the bathroom and bedroom that requires a rod 41" long. I asked ED at the DRV factory when we were there a couple months ago if they had a fix for the doors getting loose when traveling and his reply was, "What we are doing using the spring curtain rods is working so continue". They have no other method that works better.

A curtain rod tentioner sounds like even a better idea then my bungee cords with towels.

We have two of those pocket doors on our 16 Atlanta. We use the locking pin, the strap, and add a tension rod about midway on the door from one side of the door frame to the other. The combination of all three has made for pleasant traveling and zero surprises upon setting up for the night.

The curtain rod did the trick. Heading out of Oregon on OR-140 I thought I was taking a roller coaster ride the road was so bad. Actually had a few cabinets open up and dump their contents, but the pocket door was fine.

We use the LARGE pipe cleaners to tie the doors together when traveling.

I think we will be trying the shower rod.

Usually the cabinet doors are fine, but that road was terrible! It even knocked my wife's motorcycle over in the cargo trailer and it rubbed against the wall for a bit. That was kinda sad to find.

I do like the pipe cleaner idea for the cabinet doors though.

Open door, drill 5/16 hole in floor in front of door and put 5/16 pin in. This wedges door in open position. Has not moved in 8000 miles.

We had that problem and I bought child proof latches u use a magnet to open the door.

I used a 5/16 locking pin. I left bail on so pin was easier to remove.
