Angry UH OH something went missing

I have been meaning to try and improve the piece that is now sitting on the highway somewhere in Los Angeles.

I want to get a new one that is a lot more ridged, as it never closed firmly flat. The corners always drooped down and the lock was FLIMSY. I found one on Amazon and a DRV owner stated that it is a step up, not ya baby this is the bomb. https://www.amazon.com/JR-Products-Z...a-569972064681
Any other suggestions?

my Dad and I were discussing his Airstream trailer and my Thor diesel Palazzo one day several years ago, and we walked together out his long driveway to his mailbox - low and behold, right on the ground nearby was a 'brand new' RV Fridge exterior vent cover, in Full Body Paint....

we picked it up and thought "well, the owner will be back down his 'path' to find this missing and expensive piece soon enough, or at least as soon as he REALIZES he is missing it!".... but, no, no one ever showed for it : /

I posted it on this forum 'just in case' someone might read about it and know who's missing it, but never heard from anyone.....sad.

I lost mine also, but when I saw the cost of a replacement door, I made my own. I used a cheap plastic cutting board from Walmart (about ⅜" thick) and attached it with a couple of SS hinges (from Amazon) I use two bungy cords to secure it on the inside. It seals well with no sag.

Was having problems with the floor of the compartment separating from the support above--had to finally drill thru from bottom and run bolts/fender washers down from the top. Door stays closed now.
As another problem in this area--the screws on the vertical trim piece kept backing out on both sides--after going to SS screws/larger screws with same results, finally went to pop rivets. Trim pieces have now stayed in place/rivets good for about a 1000 miles.

This should work. Just added it to my Boat for access to fuel change over valves. A little modifying or let the door hang when cable is in use and have a drop in panel from the top with a slot for cord.

I feel your pain Ryan, we lost ours on a trip back to DRV for repairs!

DRV replaced it under warranty, when we returned home I bought a SS eyebolt, drilled a hole in the new door and with a small bungee I have since secured that trap door without losing this one! That was 4 years and at the time seemed like an easy "fix". A heavier duty door would probably be the "right" fix however.

These are unpainted. Guessing you might have a water heater door.

I would have to modify that door so the cord could be in use when the door is closed. I would hate to leave it open when parked. As I have had a couple of guests that I have found in the locker.

I was thinking if I use that I would make a pc of plywood or something to drop into place once the cord is deployed and let the door hang.

I think there are two issues with this door.
1) it is flimsy
2) stress placed on the door and the plastic latch with the cord out.

I use a bungee and pull the cord over to and centered over the small port, takes all the stress off the door.
