Closet Sliding door

Has any one taken the screw out of the floor rail so the off door closet door will slide both ways? I've taken the screw out and it works great to get to the back of the closet. However when ready to go down the road I have to find the screw and a driver to get it back in. And of course take it out upon stopping. Have you found a way to secure the door more conveniently?

The sliding door on our Tuscany had a lock on both ends. If you don't, then adding one would solve the problem.

So what kind of Latch/Lock is on both ends? The one lock I have will not fit on the other end. Could you post a picture?

Sorry, don't have our Tuscany any more. If your door has a full length handle you could look for a flip latch like is used on some baggage doors, or something similar. Hope you can find something!

Was just at the DRV factory and they added the same door lock that is on the right had door.

Don't know what model year you have, but you could call DRV and see if you could get a matching lock.

Jeff, how does the door slide to the left with that latch. Looks to me like that latch will not go back behind the facia.

Kent, it doesn't. Our fascia (door pocket) is only 17" deep while the door width is 31". Since we want full access to the left closet, we slide the door to the right.

In order to accomplish that we removed the wood pieced that was stapled to the left side of the right door. That piece used to keep the left door from moving while in transit. We removed the screw in the floor as well which allows the door to freely move to the right.

BTW, any chance you were at the DRV facility last week?

Cummins, keep us posted if you find a bronze lock. I've been all over the internet and haven't found anything yet.

I gave up looking. But the comment above about not clearing the jamb on the left made me keep looking. This should work mounted to the right EDGE of the left door.

My bottom slide insert kept jumping out of the track. Due to that stop screw that when installed had deformed the bottom rail. I kept finding the door flying around when traveling so I looked for something to secure the door. I bought a "sliding bolt" used for holding the door when used in pairs. It slides up and down and when down goes into a hole in the floor. I could've bought it in brushed nickel, oiled bronze or shiny brass. You'll find them either in the section with decorative hinges or the screen door section. Took the garbage out this afternoon or I'd give you part # and brand...sorry. If I'm not clear enough shoot me back a question. On the receipt it's called a "Surface Bolt." Good Luck

I bought the above item on AMAZON. REALLY is the ticket! I used a utility knife to cut the carpet for the bolt then drilled a hole. Really don't notice the hole. Very nice quality.

Push knob with foot to lock, push tab with foot to un lock.

Lowes or Home Depot probably has the same latch that azjeffh bought. Pretty sure I remember seeing those in the hardware section.

I looked and looked but no oil rubbed bronze. Also that style does not allow for the left door to slide to the left behind the wall. With the latch I have both doors can go to the right and the left fully.

When we purchased our trailer both doors slid into the pocket on the left. That was the problem. The wife had to reach in 31" to get her sewing machine among other things out of the left corner of the closet.

When the left door catch (piece of wood to keep it shut during travel) broke off, it was a blessing. The left door could move to the right and the wife could easily retrieve her belongings.

For us the above mentioned solution would be "over engineered", however I do understand not all have the same issues.

For the left door to be slid to the right the screw in the track had to be removed. With the hardware mounted to the left door they both can not be stores to the left all the way. So what I used solved all the problems. (so far) !
