Repairman called and showed up today, says I have freon leak. He says it must have happened during installation. He has to call whirlpool and see what they want to do. He thinks it will have to be replaced.

Believe it or not: Congratulations!
This means that they found something that they can actually fix!

"Freezer should be zero degrees or a few below that. You may have a freon issue. The residential fridge should cool down to normal operating temps in less than 4 hours."

My first post! Congrats on getting it resolved...warm beer foams too much and makes you sneeze!!

Apparently there are no qualified fridge repair guys on here, just guys that like Stella beer, cottage cheese & lest not forget prunes.

Sounds like me!

YES if under warranty contact manufacture. They will try to troubleshoot while on phone with you. No success they will help you with a service call.

EDIT, great you have repairman scheduled.

I was lucky they had ran out of Whirlpool refrigerators and put in a KitchenAid. I know, same thing but so far ZERO issues fulltiming 3 years with it. Also I like the looks much better.

At least you found out what the problem was. Hopefully they will resolve your problem and you will be good to go!

The problem with replacing it, sometimes its difficult to get them in or out of the coach. In some cases, a window or the windshield has to be removed to create a big enough opening to pass something the size of a refrigerator through. Lots of labor, I would get the manufacture involved under the warrantee.

My RV fridge takes approximately 6-8 hours to bring it down to operating temperature.
My home SubZeros' are normally set at 4° F in the freezer and around 35° F in the refrigerator. A freezer needs to be well under freezing at 32° in order not to have problems when the door is opened intermittently.

They just replaced my Whirlpool with a Samsung about 4 hours ago. This is in our home. 25 cf and it cooled to -5 in less than 2 hours. Thankful we had a full replacement warrantee.
I think Whilrpool may have an issue with that sealed freon system.

A friend of mine had his fridge replaced in a fifth wheel and they removed a slide out to get it out and the new one in.

I've got a dilemma now, do o have a local dealer replace my fridge, or do I take it to factory 3 hours away?

If you find out how soon you can get in you may have your answer.

Should be a better setup at the factory, but with the month wait--maybe ask the local repairman how good he is at this? Has he ever done a replacement in an RV?

I would do it myself. Use someones MotorCycle lift. I replaced my oven that way made it VERY easy.

That would be great in a house. No so much in a motor home.

You should have what they call a counter depth fridge, which is narrower than stock. Once you remove the doors, the fridge should come out your door. If your door is like ours, you have a 27" opening. I believe the fridge would be 25" with doors removed. Two people should be able to remove the unit safely out your door and down the steps with a handcart.
Hope this helps in your decision making!
