The Autoformer Mod

Thanks to Ron for doing this mod first. This is my write up on it.
For those of you that have an Autoformer, here’s how I hardwired mine. Doing this keeps it hidden, secure, and dry. It also allows you to remove the Autoformer and still have power to your rig.
I removed the junction box and attached the Camco ends. Male plug to the rig and female plug to the power cord. Male handle was cut off to give space. Felt pads were placed on power cord reel to prevent rubbing. Angle irons were installed to keep the Autoformer from shifting in transit.
Parts needed:
1. Autoformer
2. Camco 50 amp ends, male and female.
3. Zip ties, electrical tape
4. 2 pieces of angle iron and screws
5. Felt pads

I have to say the young man did a fine job! He held his to the right so he can see the power condition indicators, mine are on the front so I pushed mine tight to the left.

I did this mod several years ago on my 07.5 DRV when ThousandTrails said AutoFormers were banned! Funny they sold them at another TT 75 miles away.

They had a few pedestals that had issues so they decided to blame the AutoFormers. Bottom line the West 1/2 of the parks power is OLD and 30A that needs to be replaced.

Once out of sight it was not an issue!

OK Ron, Thanks. I was just wondering because I've had a few park managers look at it and even asked me about it. One of them was real suspicious thinking that I might be robbing electricity, lol. I told him to look up auto former. Mine is chained up!

I also have had a few campground employees as what it was.
