wheels

Who makes the OEM wheels on our DRV's? I know they are 17.5 but not sure of the width. Asking because I wanted to get new ones to put on the Conti's 235x 75 tires. Some are going with the ALCOA's but I wanted other options. Thanks in advance.

Hi Spec are the wheels, made in China. Alcoa's are US Made. Best deal I found was buying directly from Ron's Rims.

New wheels because I didn't think the 235 continentals wouldn't fit on the OEM's. Do they?

17.5"wheels and 17.5" tires are fine together. I changed to Alcoa's but I would have no issue putting the 235/75R 17.5" continentals on the Hi Spec OE DRV wheels.

Some think they need to go to a higher rated wheel with the higher rated tire but that is ONLY if the weight exceeds 4,805# that the "H" OE tires will carry.

I thought the OE wheels were 6.5" wide and the 235's call for 6.75" wide. The weight wasn't an issue. Thanks for the info.

I've never bought wheels for a 1/4" difference.

Some factory OWM wheels are 4805 and some were 6005.
If upgrading to H tires why not upgrade the wheels?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $

I changed mine because the HiSpec wheel coating was coming off. I sold the GY's and wheels as a set for good $$$. If the wheels were still good looking I would not have changed.

Thank you all for the great info. There is nothing wrong with current wheels. I just thought I needed to change the width to accommodate the wider tire. Saved me money. Thanks again.

I had two wheels damaged by the brake calipers (and still waiting for reimbursement). So between two new wheels and and upgrading the tires ......... May as well get the full load capacity.

At the time I ordered them the Alcoa's were about $25 less than then the HiSpec's.

I am also using the HiSpec center caps, like them better than the Alcoa's.

Tires

Iíve have had the 235 Continentals (load range J) on my hi-spec wheels (6005 load rating) for the last 2 years. No problem. Look great and wear is great.

Good to know. I will be going with the 235's. Shopping to the best prices at this moment.

When I bought mine, FMCA membership offered the best pricing by $120 per tire.

The width of the rim should be cast on it. People are putting the 235s on the stock rims.

I was able around to the back of the rim and the width is 6.75, which is good for the 235's. The weight rating is 4850.

1/4" width difference translates to 1/8" each side measurement-
I agree with not buying new wheels for the sake of 1/8"
There is a lot of latitude with rubber tires.
