Who installed your CHEAP HEAT?

We are travelling to Nashville in September and thinking about contacting RVSFORLESS to have the cheap heat installed.

If you had yours installed there how was the experience?

RVs for Less installs the Cheap Heat system on all the new DRVs that they have on the lot, as far as I know. We bought ours (see signature) from their new unit inventory, so the Cheap Heat system was already installed at delivery. They are an RV Comfort Systems (Cheap Heat) dealer/installer, so they should have plenty of experience.

We love the Cheap Heat system. All we ever use is the fireplace plus the Cheap Heat to keep the 5th wheel warm down into the 20s. Even then, there's reserve capacity left as both the fireplace and Cheap Heat (furnace) are still cycling.

RollingRetreats did ours. It's a GREAT mod and worth every $$$. If fact it's keeping us warm right now in COLD PalmSprings, CA area.

It's controlled from the thermostat just as the furnace would be. The only "control" is a toggle switch in the control cabinet labeled "Gas/Electric" that allows you to select between the propane burner or the Cheap Heat's electric strip heat as the heating medium.

We have a switch that is either Electric or propane. They are both tied into the T stat.

Cheap heat is a 220V electric coil added to the plenum of the heat system. You need shore 50A power or a 220V gen as I listed above.

Just a comment - the strip heating elements can be wired either as 240VAC or 120VAC. The latter would allow one to run it on either 30 amp or 50 amp service, BUT it would cut the heat output in half. I wouldn't recommend it. You can always use propane for the times you're restricted to 30 amp service.

You'd have to decide that. It's just that, for a given number of strip heating elements with constant resistance, 120VAC will produce half the heat (wattage) as 240VAC.

True - but I still wouldn't dismiss it if a 30A coach... A smaller coach (which 30A rigs typically are) doesn't need the same heat as a larger coach - and still cheaper than burning propane when electricity is included in the site charge...

On 50A rig - I would lean towards the 220/240VAC option.

I think ours cost $1,200-1,300. NOT "Cheap" but WELL worth it.

Has anybody installed the Cheap Heat system in a Vegas ?
I spoke with the manufacturer and he was not familiar with the Vegas and was not sure if it would fit.
