Question Wifi Ranger

Who has a wifi Ranger? Mine does not come up as an option when the IPad is searching for wifi. I have placed the switch in both position and nothing. I'm thinking that it was not installed as there is nothing on the roof. If you have one, do you have something mounted on the roof? I called wifi Ranger and they said that there should be a small box on the roof. I just wanted to get feedback from other members before I contacted DRV.
Thanks

Take a look in your pouch with the rest of your manuals for the WiFi Ranger info. I didn't see mine at first either but had to go thru the setup on the unit. It works fine now....

There is a small box on the roof of my 2015. Mine toggles to the left to turn it on. Right is off. Not much help I'm afraid. Maybe download the manual and log on to the web site. It should find yours if it is installed and working.

But there is something on your roof? I have a 2016 RSB3. My thought is they forgot to install the main unit on the roof as I have a switch labeled Wifi Ranger in the cabinet on the right when you first walk in.

Searched it and is was not there. I called Wifi Ranger and he said that it would show up in the IPad when searching for networks. It does not show up in either switch position. So my thought is that it never got fully installed. Just the switch in the closet.

Yes, there is a "box" on the roof door side just ahead of the bathroom. I can't remember exactly the size but something like 4" x 6"

The only thing on my roof are 2 A/C units, 2 Fantatis fans, shower skylight and my way Winegard antenna.

Sounds like another punch list item. I will be back there the middle of August for a few items needing attention

It's like a Park Ranger, but he specializes in WiFi!

It's actually a WiFi range extender, (and antenna), marketed specifically for RVs/Marine applications.

Once you do get it installed don't just turn it on and think it is working. You have to sync your devices to it. There will be a password that comes with it. Don't ask me how I know.

This WIFI Ranger........what is it useful for? We get our internet by using the hotspot feature on our iPhones. The WIFI Ranger would not help with this right?

No, this will boost the signal from the free campground supplied WIFI.

Really wishing that I had it now as the CG where we are staying at the signal is weak. Using more data.

What I mainly use mine for is to sync EVERYTHING to the WiFi Ranger. That way it makes no difference if we leave with a phone, use the campground Wifi, have a MyFi card or anything else, the printer, satellite receiver, dvd player (netflix), smart TV, laptops or anything else can run off of the Ranger and I only have to deal with getting ONE device logged onto the net (pull up the WiFi Ranger control panel in a browser and select a previous logged onto connection or add a new one). The speed might not be quite as fast but is usually more than sufficient for what we need and I always have the option to connect directly to the phone.MyFi or other source.

That is good to know. With all I have learned about the WIFI Ranger, I am thinking it will NOT be on our rig. We are so comfortable with using the hotspot feature on our iPhones that I do not want to change. Well, that plus I have yet to stay in a campground with WIFI that got anywhere close to acceptable.

Joe

Referring to wifi ranger, I have used mine at the dealer lot, but I'm at a campground, and every time I try to com rv my iPad, it bumps me back to campground wifi. Anyone have any tips?

On your iPad let it sync with the campground WiFi then in settings go into the campground's WiFi and press "Forget this network"
