Welcome to the site, and if you've just picked up your ACE 27.1, congratulations.

If not, have fun researching

Thanks. We look forward to many memories. Our first planned trip is to Brusy Mountain Prison. They have a distillery there now and give tours. The tour guides are former inmates and or prison guards.

Welcome, I really like that floor plan. If Thor didnt have the RUV lineup that was one of the models we looked at.

This forum is full of useful (and not so useful - lol) info. I have learned so much here.

Post some pictures of your RV when you can.

Here are some pics before I purchased my Axis. We like the size and price of the C class and the room of the ACE (esp in the cockpit area) so as you can see the Axis RUV is the Goldilocks of RV's (IMO)..... Not too big, not too small....Just right. LOL.

If funny when you look at the these pictures how big the Axis looks to the C class (but its really not) and how small it looks next to the ACE.

yep, its was a good selling point for me and my wife.

Sometime when I drive it I feel like im in a large RV - esp with cars around. Other times I feel like im in a small RV with big rigs and full size RV's around.

I like the compactness - easy to use on narrow city streets and for parking. Plus I use mine going to trail head parking lots (Mtn Biker here) so it works great for my needs. Sometime im going down narrow dirt roads and stone parking lots but I never have a problem.

Welcome dmills5000. We are also new to class A”s and fell in love with the ACE line in particular the 30.4. I’ve learned a lot from a great group of Thor owners on this forum.

We looked at the Axis..smaller one, and then the ACE 27.2, Axis was new 2018 at $82K, the Ace was 2017 (2016 Ford) for $63K, didn't realize the size difference, and loved the Axis interior, very modern Euro styling, but bought the ACE due to the price difference, and ACE some $27K lower than NADA....but still had to pay owners tax on the higher $$ amount...crooked state tax folks.

Next question. What is the tire size difference? Ace has 29" tires.

I think you will find that all Thor plant 750 coaches (ACE, Traveler, Windsport, Hurricane) have 245/70-19.5 tires that are 33 inches in diameter. The plant 750 coaches are 99 inches wide and 12'2" tall. The Thor RUVs have 225/75-16 tires that are which are 29 inches in diameter. They are 94" wide and 11' tall.

Make that 11ft 3in. It can make a difference in gas stations and low bridges. <wink>

I just built a garage/man cave with 12' doors. When I put a tape measure on the opening I found I had 11'-8" clear so that made the Thor Axis the best choice for
me. The 26'-6" length was a plus also because I can park my car hauler in tandem with it with room to spare. Looking forward to getting on the road with it when things start warming up in the spring. The knowledge on this forum has been very helpful in getting it ready for the road. Thanks to all for that!

Another crazy comparison is the wheel base & horsepower difference.
- My Vegas 24.1 is 25'6" long and has a 188" wheelbase on the E-450 chassis, pushing 305 HP on the V-10, 2 Valve engine
- The ACE 27.1 is 28'8" long and has a 178" wheelbase on the F Series Super Duty Chassis, and pushes 362 HP with the V-10, 3 Valve engine

So the Ace is 3' longer, but has a shorter wheelbase.
And, the ACE pushes more horsepower, but has less towing capacity (due to overall weight)

for whatever that info is worth...

The F-53 chassis isn't really an "F Series Super Duty" chassis as the F Series Super Duties are pickup trucks and the F-53 is more of a larger commercial truck chassis (think "box truck" and UPS or Fedex truck).

V-10 Chassis & Engine variations:

This doc says the F-53 is only 320 HP. but the Spec page for the 2016 ACE 27.1 says it's 362 HP

So, not sure what's the correct info
