Hello from Texas!

I'm a first time RV owner. Just purchased a 2015 Vegas 25.2. Any advice or information is appreciated from all you professional RV'ers. Thanks a bunch.

Welcome!

Love Fredericksburg — have spent many nights at various campgrounds there. Awesome place to cycle (bicycle).

Welcome to the forum! Not sure a few decades of RVing makes me a "professional" but I have learned from a bunch of mistakes! I prefer "long-time RV'er" to "old-Rv'er" although both are relative terms.

Suggest you download and read Ed Felker's excellent crowd-sourced manual for Vegas/Axis, found here:
https://1drv.ms/w/s!AiYx6DLSeiiP53x246awlGrg8B-I

There has been endless discussion of modifications and upgrades to the Vegas and Axis on this forum. A quick search can entertain you for hours.

Is this your first RV, and are you planning weekends or big trips?

Mr. Sunshine, this is my first RV of any kind. Never had a towable or motorhome. We plan to use this for every now and again. But we will be using it to travel to TN. It would be a 2 week trip.

I'm also going to maintain my amateur status...
So I'll just welcome you to the Forum, and tell you that you've definitely come to the right place!

.... And what happens in Vegas...

Greetings from Indiana. Not sure what makes for a professional RV'r but as Mr. Sunshine said perhaps learning from our mistakes. (We have made plenty!) You have a lot of firsts ahead, like putting up the awning the first time, leveling the rig, dumping the tanks Good luck and have fun learning!

Do I have to have generator on while traveling so passengers can watch tv. Or will the house batteries do the job?

Your TVs will need the generator or shore power, unless an inverter was added as a modification, or you have a 12 volt TV, also a modification. (Neither of those are likely.)
My passengers will never get to watch TV when traveling. They all have little screens to watch anyway, and we encourage them to learn about maps and things that go by the windows. Your results may vary...

Hello, also from south Texas

Hi

We are Kerry and Diana from the Texas Gulf Coast.

We don’t have a rv yet. We are retired and want to travel. We have never own a rv. We are looking at a 2016 Windsport. When I told someone about it, they reacted by saying “you’re not buying a Thor, are you?”

I have enjoyed your blogs but I haven’t come up with anything that would stop me from buying.

A lot of the complains seem to be with service departments and warranty work.

Any suggestions or advice? We are having it inspected. Should I upgrade the suspension? If so with what? We are car drivers.

If we buy it, we are thinking of testing it by going to a rv park close to us. Anyone camped at Bluewater?

Haven’t been to Bluewater, but we’ve stayed at both The Breeze RV Park and Beachfront RV Park in Surfside Beach. And, we also stayed at Gulf Waters RV Park in Port Aransas. We liked all of them, especially Gulf Waters, and plan to go back soon. Also, we want to go down to South Padre to check it out when we get back to Texas (currently in San Pedro, Belize . . . without the RV of course).

Good luck with the Windsport if you decide to buy it. And, let us know what you think of Bluewater when you go.

Bluewater

Bluewater is new, near Galveston. Concrete is still fresh. They aren’t listed anywhere except their website.

I am having problems with getting to know this THOR Forums thing. I try to post and it goes away or freezes up. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I usually am not this stupid.

Gary M

Keep trying. I had the same problems, gave up, and then received an email saying I left without finishing. Then it allowed me to post.
