34J In Socal New to the forum

Hello fellow RV enthusiasts!

New to this forum and we have a 2018 Thor Hurricane that we purchased 1 year used in March of 2018.

We have 9 children so we love the layout but not the slide out design. So far we have put around 12k miles with trips to Rushmore and exploring Louisiana, Texas and New Mexico as our longest trips.

We are in Southern California and with 9 kids we use the RV for lots of day trips. Having an RV makes Disneyland and beach trips so much easier.

Looking forward to gleaning wisdom from those in the know and also excited to find a solution of our slide issues. Back motor has been replaced twice, front motor once, controller once and the RV is currently in the shop for a new front motor and front tracks. Good times!

So thankful we have 4 more years on our ESP but I am already looking for a replacement to be purchased in 2022. Although by 2020 by sons will be a bit older and removing the motors completely and manually pushing the slide in and out may be a solution.

Safe travels!

Welcome to our Campfire!
Do the kids ever get a chorus of, "Are we there yet?" going; when you're out on the road?

I would look into a travel trailer to pull behind you!! That's a huge family!! What a bunch of groceries!! Right now we use ours for more day trips than weekends...it's so convenient to have everything with you...especially your own toilet!!

Bob, it is crazy driving with the kids. There is allot of are we there yet but I do give them credit as we have done some 14 hour driving sessions with only gas stops.

It is so nice to have food, a restroom and beds on board. In our pre RV days getting gas would take 45 minutes due to mandatory bathroom breaks.

There's no doubt that the mobile galley and head can make the travelling time much more manageable!

Haha ,our oldest is only 10 so they are relatively small but a trailer may need to be looked at in the future. I am guessing we would need two sites at the rv park, sounds expensive. Our biggest challenge right now is taking 7 bikes on our trips.

We also do not tow a vehicle so we have been in some harry situations with the RV. Like the time we got stuck in New Orleans near Bourbon Street.

Good times!

Tents are cheaper, and kids always love the adventure of tent camping...
