Another Newbie

Hello all ! I’m so glad to be here ! We just got our first RV about a month ago and love it, and are terminally stupid about RV’ing, but it’s been a dream of ours for years! So here we are .

Our only question right now is about keeping our food cold in a camp where there are no hookups and we have THREE (yes, three) teenage boys. We have a smaller Thor (a 22B) and are taking it (third trip too!) to a state campground here in beautiful Oregon (Labor Day Weekend) that has no electric or water hookup. We’ve used propane but the refrige gas light keeps blinking at us. Any suggestions ?

Congratulations and welcome to the site.

Are you sure the propane is on at the tank? Full? Is there air in the line (hint you can try to run a stove burner to check)?

A lot of time when the propane has been turned off for a while the lines will empty out. I usually run a stove burner until it burns steadily; then try the fridge on gas.

Once working the fridge will run for quite some time on gas as it uses very little.

Welcome! As usual, Jamie is spot on about the fridge.

During your stay at the state park with no hookups, you might want to utilize the restrooms during the day, and reduce the use of your black tank.

Happy camping!

Do you have the house battery running, with the fridge switched to gas? We tested the propane with a burner and it was good.

The house battery must be on when using the fridge on propane. Like the furnace, the controls are 12V.

I think the OP said they have a blinking light on the fridge control.
Get a burner to light on the stove as a test that gas is available. Switch the fridge off and back to auto or gas. Listen closely or go outside a listen at the fridge vent. You should hear it light and continue to operate with no blinking. It takes 12volts to light and operate. It doesn't use much gas...The furnace on the other hand is a hog. It too, works with 12volts and gas to operate.
