Becoming an SOB

Hello to one and all. Over the past 5 years I have learned a lot on this Forum and really enjoyed the fellowship. With retirement on the horizon and after spending the past year looking for a replacement to our Vegas 24.1 the DW and I found our next RV...it is a 2019 Nexus Viper 27V B+ on the F450 Chassis and we will be taking delivery of it on Valentine's Day.

Thanks to one and all for your input over the years, Ed...I hope someone put together a Manual for the Viper like you did for the Vegas!

I plan to remain in the Forum more now as an observer.

Thanks again.

DocMike

Congratulations.

Wow that is a really nice coach too bad their website sucks! LOL (They put the floorplan in a rotating gallery of pictures that you can't pause--who thought that was a good idea!)

Looks to me to be an E450 series chassis, not F.

I can see that as being a logical next step up from a 24.1.

Jamie,

It has most of what the Vegas 27.7 has but without the overhead drop-down bunk (we have used ours maybe 6 times in the past 5 years). It allows for more cabinet space and a central location for the TV. With just the two of us it provides a bit more usable space than our 24.1, we'll miss the recliners but it does have one of those Euro recliners.

Retirement is just months away so time to get it broke in and ready for some long hauls this Fall.

I have signed up with their Owner Forum, not as user friendly as this one...still learning my way around over there.

Yeah, they do need to upgrade their website when you can get better more and better pics and a stationary floorplan from RVTRADER.

Been looking at that for the past few minutes, even showed the wife (she likes it too)...damn you! LOL

To be honest we're not getting rid of the 24.1 just yet, but this is the first floorplan that I've seen that checks enough boxes for us that we'd consider upgrading to.

I’m an SOB too but this is still my “go to” RV forum. Far and away the best I’ve found. Enjoy your travels but please hang around here.

My bad, fat fingers it is the E450.

Plan to stick around until they run me off.

Tons of usable information, mods and other ideas in the Forum's membership.

I like it since it doesn't have that cartoonish bulbous windshield overhang. And I don't think the smaller windshield obstructs much. It's a nice rv.

I have to ask though:
Due to the tight seating to doghouse and because of this it requiring a butt swivel waist giration half turn and squirm to get from front seats to coach, would you recommend this cab to someone with mobility or infirmity problems?

I know a guy who just did the questionable by building his entire new house 14 steps up from the base. Wifes new bad knee as of yesterday could force a sale on a house that just received its coo last week.

Just wondering.
Spousal unit and I are perfectly fit and not overweight, and those b and c cabs are a chore for us....
Maybe we rv differently than most but with us the passenger is up and down many times during any leg of the trip. Potty, sandwich, soda, rattle, snack, nail file, potty, book, pillow,...

Duck,
I was looking at the Nexus's website and they have the Viper 27V for 2021 already listed. One of the options on the 2021 is a swivel passenger seat.
My DW is 4'10, 101lbs...I had to build a foot rest so her feet could touch the floor in the Vegas.

At 5'10 225lbs I'm no slim-Jim but i went from driver back to the coach without a problem during the test drive and visits. I'll see how it does and report back.

Hey. I'm married to her too! Or is that her sister? But that +$465 swivel passenger seat might lock at 90*.

Good luck Doc! And happy retirement! Don't leave!
I like the floor plan, esp the a dinette and sofa. Fiberglass roof!

Not sure about the mini-galley (sink is inaccessible w/slide closed?) At least the sink isn't in the slide (too many hoses to deal with).

I can't tell if the bed folds to close the slide. Replacing the usual OEM mattress could be pricey but doable.
But that bowl lavatory basin should be an option, I put one in a gust bath and hate it...but that's me.

This is step up in a reasonable size.

Congratulations Doc.

I agree that on E-Series it’s relatively easy to get in and out of front seats. I think it’s far easier than on Ford Transit Cutaway, and no worse than Mercedes or ProMaster Cutaway van chassis. The E-Series is still #1 in RV market. I’m not sure if 2021 E-Series will change at all in doghouse area but doubt it will.

Regarding aftermarket seat swivels, keep in mind they often elevate the seat a little. That may be important to passengers with short legs.

Their Website lists the 2021 with new Ford V8. That’s first time I’ve seen it listed in place of V10.

Gnach,

There is plenty of walk thru space with the slides in. The wife and I both were amazed at the space there... I had to check the basics and the Vegas is listed as outside 94" wide and the Viper is listed as outside 96" wide.

With the slide in the bed touches the chest of drawers but does not fold up.

The DW likes the sink bowl in the bathroom. To me it kind of looks like a salad bowl but hey - I'm a guy as long as I can rinse after brushing my teeth I'm good with it.

Doc -- good luck to you on your retirement & the new RV. I've enjoyed our discussions and the kind words you always had for the manual. You know -- now that you'll have all that time omnyour hands, and following your wife around all day during retirement will get old for her in about 7 nano seconds -- you could compile and edit a manual for the new rig -- just a suggestion.

Keep coming back to the forum. We'll be glad to hear from you and your adventures in the new rig.
