hey everyone, im new and still looking for my perfect fit class a RV. i have a few ideals of what i want, but not sure if they should be a must or not. I would really love to have the electric fireplace and to have an exterior tv and kitchen, i have 3 small grandkids that at some point will be traveling with us. but im concerned if these are things that are really used. So i guess what i am asking for they worth the money to have or should i consider RV without them and make other accommodations for outside. thanks in advance for everyones consideration

With the grandkids I would bet that the exterior TV would get used quite a bit. Good news for that is that it seems like every RV these days has an exterior TV.

As for the fireplace: You'll turn it on to show people and then not use it.

I can't answer or suggest for the exterior kitchen: If we had one we would likely use it but not very often. We've never had one so I guess you don't miss what you've never had. I think we value the extra storage space more.

Our Challenger had all three of things you are asking about.

Fireplace - got used quite a bit on chilly mornings and evenings. Eliminated the need to take along an electric heater for those times when heat was required but the furnace was too much. Also, had the ability to turn off the heating element so you had the ambiance but without the heat.

Outdoor kitchen - used every trip. I converted a Weber Q 2000 to use the on-board LP. The mini fridge was good for keeping drinks cold and the sink good for cleaning cooking utensils outside.

Exterior TV was nice to watch the news outdoors while dining.

Our current rig is without the outdoor kitchen and fireplace and we miss both.

Happy hunting and safe travels.

For what it’s worth...we had an outside kitchen in one RV and used it just once for the novelty of it and never again. Specifically looked for a unit without one thereafter. As was said nearly all come with an outside TV these days but we never used that either so we made sure our current coach does not have one. And we REALLY didn’t want a pretend fireplace. But that’s just us. And we don’t have grand kids. Really, it would be hard for anyone to answer this for you. Something else for you to consider is a folding bed. Our first coach had one and we hated it. Was one of the things that drove us to go shopping for a new one. It was comfortable enough but meant you could not use it on the road or with the slide in. It’s not a problem for many folks but it’s something to consider as you shop. Best of luck.

For us, an outdoor kitchen is a must. We use it every trip. We now have an outside tv and use it, but if I had to choose between the two, we would for sure keep the outdoor kitchen.
