Auction

Morning! I’m almost an owner of a Thor Freedom Elite 26FE. Buying from a small dealer. He acquired the motorhome at an auction in SC. It looks brand new and very low miles. Should we be worried that it was bought at an auction?

Welcome to the forum. Just go through it and check every system, generator, water pump, slide(s). Check the batteries, tires, radiator and oil. Go up on the roof and check it for cuts, rips holes and every seam to be sure there is no way for water to get inside it.

Items are auctioned for various reasons: It could have been an Estate Auction or it could have been a Bank Repo auction.

As others have mentioned, it is the inspection of the current state of the RV that is much more important than it's sales history.

Sales history can tell you where this has been and sometimes explains. Carfax should be able to pull the title info and where it has been by the VIN. Well work the few dollars to clear up the mystery.
As stated, good inspection in every nook and cranny is most important.

Or it might have been a rental. Especially if it has no decals this might be the case. If you are new to the RV world, hire someone to inspect it for you. Worth the $$.

Whether it’s bought from auction, private party or whatever. A proper inspection is what is needed. You can buy it brand new from the factory and you could have problems.
