Welcome to the site.

What RV are you considering or did you already buy and are trying not to blow up?

Looking at the Class C's on the Ford chassis mostly. I am currently researching the weight limitations of the different models, that will be one of the major conc erns..

We went from a 31 foot Class C toyhauler; to a 26 Class C on a Sprinter chassis.
Size does matter... but only to a point!

Welcome

On Ford chassis there are three sub groups of Class Cs — small, medium and large.

Small = Transit (up to 11,000 pounds GVWR this year)

Medium = E-Series (10,050 to 14,500 pounds GVWR)

Large = F-550 (up to 19,500 pounds GVWR)

The most common are E-350 and E-450 E-Series with DRW, with 12,500 and 14,500 respectively.

With your background I’m curious if you’re limiting choices to diesel, or considering gas also. The newer E-Series are gasoline only.

I'm the guy on the road everyone honks at, is given the finger for being in the way. I am often over 16' wide with 2 to 4 escorts if police escorts are needed and taking up a lane and the shoulder or 2 lanes. I probably will be looking for diesel only.

Nice rig, I was kinda interested in the sprinter chassis until I found out the occc only allowed for my wife and I annd water nothing else. I'm 240, wife is 130, not much room after that.

If only looking for diesel, that will narrow your choices quickly.

The E-Series, the most common Ford Class C, hasn’t been manufactured as a diesel in a very long time.

The smaller Transit have low occupant and cargo carrying capacity, and on new models Ford cancelled diesel production, at least temporarily. Ford announced a couple of model years would go without the new tiny 2.0L 4-cylinder diesel. I don’t know when or if the diesel makes it to market. Anyway, there are previous year models with 3.2L inline 5-cylinder diesels if you want a lightly used one, or may find a new one on lot.

The F-550 is diesel and has high cargo and towing capacity, but it’s expensive by comparison to other Ford Class Cs.

Good luck. 👍

SK 35 with Ford Powerstroke diesel lots of room good mileage tons of power. Large cab with airbags makes insurance cheaper. Can't leave Wal-Mart or campgrounds without people wanting a look.
