Back exit window screen

2021 Axis 24. In the back bedroom there is a screen in the exit window and not one for the regular window next to it. Is there supposed to be a screen for that non exit window?

I'm not familiar with that model, but welcome to the forum. If you don't find the answer here, contact thor.

Welcome!

Our Vegas 25.2 has no screen on the emergency exit window, and a screen on the window that opens. That is the way yours should be too. It's a safety thing to have no screen to allow you to make a quick exit.

Strongly suggest you download Ed Felker's excellent crowd-sourced manual for Vegas/Axis. Find it in a sticky under the forum tab of Tech Topics. It will answer many of your questions.

Respectfully disagree that it is a safety concern.

There are hundreds if not thousands of motorhomes on the road with screen on the emergency exit windows. In fact Thor put screens on the exit windows of the Challengers so safety is not a factor in whether or not the exit window has a screen. The major factor is whether or not the window manufacturer, most likely Hehr, made a screen for the model window being used.

The red handle in this pic is the screen handle used to remove the screen in an emergency. The bar is used to hold the window open for ventilation.

I'll bow to your superior response. My source was the PDI guy when I picked up my coach. Not the most credible.

Wish my Hurricane had that type of emergency escape window.

2015 Windsport - has factory screen on both the small bedroom "slide up" window and "crank out" window. There is screen on the exit window attached with Velcro, that may have been a mod by previous owner.

Either way, that screen will rip off in a second in an emergency. What might be a problem is climbing out, especially if we have bikes on a hitch mount right beneath.

I know my travel trailer had a screen in the emergency window as well. The Axis motorhome just doesn’t make sense. They have a screen on the emergency window but not the one that isn’t. They are different sizes too. I trie to move a screen from another window to see if it would fit (so I could just order another one of those) and it was too big. *♀️

I remember some time ago this issue came up and the OP called Thor and found out there was a screen for the window that apparently went missing on the dealer’s lot prior to sale.

I think the emergency window on the rear of our ACE would fall out on the street if you aren't careful opening it. The emergency exit in the kitchen (only one going out that window is an 8 year old) has a screen

Do you know where I can get a screen for the rear safety window in my 2018 Thor Windsport 29m. I use a piece of black cardboard to block the sun in the morning, but having it open at night for ventalation would be nice!!! Bob Trice

Call the manufacturer of the window in your coach. Most of them are made by Hehr.

2020 Vegas 27.7. No screen on the rear emergency window. Not to hijack, but someone mentioned they thought the emergency window would fall out if opened. I had the same sensation (that the window maybe did not have a proper hinge) when I opened the rear window part way to test. At the time I could not go outside on a ladder to see the connection. Anyone know if the rear window can be used and not fall out?
