Considering buying an Outlaw 29H

My husband is a serious astronomy buff, and I compete in sports with some of my dogs. The Outlaw 29H looks as if it will meet the needs for both of our hobbies. I’d like to hear about experiences that other have had with this model (or the J). I’d also love to rent or “test one” if possible. Thanks.

Welcome to our "Merry Band of Outlaws"!
They are VERY nicely equipped
They don't have a lot of outside storage
The garage makes for just a mediocre bedroom
TONS of cabinet space
Easy to drive
Easy to set up

Since we carry our Spyder in the garage: we use the eating area for a sleeping area, and we throw the bedding into the overhead bunk.
(NOT climbing ladders at our ages! )

You will find that the Outlaw would be very practical for your needs. As Bob mentioned not a lot of outside storage, but we utilize the garage storage and wheeled containers to make up for that.( Keep our chairs, BBQ, tabled, ect in garage and ramp it out at camp site). I carry a Harley Softail in the garage and there's room for the other stuff as mentioned. We utilize the jack knife benches as our bed ( The Princess has to have her king bed) and place a memory foam mattress over them. The memory foam is stored in a large vacuum bag when not in use. We also travel with two dogs, a boxer and mini schnauzer...the rear deck serves as their " puppy veranda"....all in all like the practically of the 29h, but disappointed in the workmanship... before you buy do a very, very, very detailed inspection...take electrical meters, pocket levels, flash lights, ladder, creeper...look at everything twice!

Yup! Workmanship will require VERY close scrutiny!
(But I think that's a problem with most of them! )

Hi. I bought an Outlaw 29h this past July. I have 3 large dogs that compete in either Obedience or Conformation. When we travel the dogs are crated in the garage. We have always crated our dogs for travel. We have used the sofa up front or the overhead for sleeping. The patio is good for the dogs because most days they will be able to get fresh air and a breeze they wouldn’t get in a typical RV. We are toying with the idea of removing the sofa up front and putting the crates there and outfitting the garage as our “living room/bedroom. P.S. we’re happy with our purchase. It’s the closest RV I could find to an SUV. NO carpet. The door to the garage can be locked with a key so you can still get in the garage from the outside but nobody can get into the “house” & cab.

You can fit quite the telescope in that back garage area! Even better haul it off to someplace with no light pollution.

Scope fits.
So does dog kennel.
Now for an astro trip!
(of course we've got the PDI punch list to address as well)

Wow! With that rig in front of your peepers: you could keep an eye on what your Cousins are doing... four Towns away!

You'd think that but a telescope like that doesn't work that way.

JHGIII: Wow what a very nice scope. I'd love to have one like that to cart along (of course then we wouldn't have the Axis but something bigger). (We have a small 4.5" reflector that we sometimes take on trips...had it on the beach on Lake Superior that was something--we did have to keep an eye out for bears, however LOL.)
