Nope. Not a diesel. Like most second time buyers, considered a used one. I'll give a hint, it was not made in Red Bay, AL.

I was guessing in the Tiffin line-up based upon your comment about another guess being close...
So was the closeness of the guess; based upon the floorplan?

From reading your posts thru the years I knew you Love the Axis aand RVing.
You also like tinkering with your motorhome but after awhile we shouldnt be rebuilding them. Your tinkering now will be making the morning coffee and sitting at the outside table enjoying the site. You were always looking but never serious. Once you decided, you went for Quality not Luxury. The Newmar Baystar gives you Both & MORE! Everthing and I mean Everything is Exactly what you were asking for in Comfort & Quality... Except you will miss the indoor Axis staircase. You will Love the Double pane windows, entire dash, captains chairs, overhead speakers, built in defrost fans etc. etc. Very Smart Choice! Hope to see you on the road some day Congratulations & Enjoy!
Rev.

Very kind words Rev. I appreciate that. Yes, we are looking forward to the new adventures. We were very fortunate to have made the decision to buy that Axis and open up the country to visit the right way. Thanks again.

They're a beautiful rig! Congratulations, and I hope that you pile up lots of "Miles & Smiles" with it!

I sold my 15 Axis 24.1 and bought a 16 Bay Star Sport a couple of years ago. I wish I had gotten the Bay Stay but it was a few bucks over my budget.

I have stayed with this forum and still read all the Axis info and enjoy and respect the knowledge of the guys here.

Good luck with your new rig and let’s talk Bay Stars sonetime.

Phil

Congrats on you Newmar Bay Star! Funny I was just looking at them on-line today. Not that we're ready to trade in our Axis but I really like the layout of the 2813 and 2702 Bay Stars and all of the outside storage. Just wondering with the Bay Star will you still have to do up grade modifications ie. Safe T Plus, Front Sway Bar & 7180 Rear Sway Bar, sound proofing etc?

I think Safe-T-Plus is always a good safety addition but I have made no additions to my 2903 and feel safe and comfortable driving. No steering issues or wobble.

I miss my Axis; it was my first Class A type unit. And, there is no unit specific group to interact with on the Newmar side.

I miss this group. It is a lot more like family.

Phil

Earl, I guess I'm dense but I didn't gather what you bought or are looking at. If it is the Newmar Bay Star, which model?? They get into the King size bed which I would like.

We came down from a highly modified 34' Rockwood diesel pusher to a highly modified 25.3 AXIS. I liked the diesel a lot -much quieter and great control w the 6-speed auto tran. The Rockwood was only about 18K GVW so was capable of 11-12mpg.
The mtls in the Rookwood were higher quality (real wood) but I feel the THOR is more solidly built. I've done a major rework of the acoustics of the cockpit on the AXIS with noticable improvement but stll not as quiet as the Rockwood.

New Wheels

Thank you both for the comments. Really appreciated. We purchased a 2019 3124 Bay Star. It has the full slide on the driver's side and the bed slide at the rear on the passenger slide. The bed is a king size bed which will be a major change after the two twins on the 24.1 Axis.
