Door latch broke

Hello From Dan & Terri Musgrave in Kamiah Idaho, we have a 2015 Hurricane 34E, while camping at Glacier National Park, Terri became locked inside because the door latch broke. We had to crawl in the escape window to dismantle the latch assembly. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I believe as an Emergency responder this is a real safety issue and should be addressed by Thor motor Coah.

Yes it is a frequently discussed item, and many people (myself included) swapped out the door latch preemptively.

There should be cases open with the NTHSA, and, since you had the issue, you can file a complaint also. For us, since we didn't have the issue, and we didn't want to take a chance with having our pups locked inside with us on the outside, we went ahead and replaced the ZINC TRI-MARK locks with the STEEL TRI-MARK locks...

For 150.00, it seemed to be "cheap" insurance....

We keep a tracfone in the motorhome just in case, after being locked in (in driveway).
We replaced the lock & filed a complaint.
This could be a very dangerous situation if there's a fire. Wasted time trying to get out the door.

Mine was loose after a year and we could not shut it. Realigned everything and tighten all the loose screws. But that part gets a lot of use and if metal has a flaw or fatigues its going to break. Subsystem suppliers go to the lowest bidder.
