First Class A

Good afternoon,
First time RV owner, previous owner of a Wolf Pup Travel Trailer by Forest River that blew up on our first night camping. Yes, the water system blew up at almost every connection even with a pressure reducer. It sat at the dealer for almost the whole year before we were paid for it by a consignment. Goodbye Wolf Pup....

Hello 2016 Thor Vegas 25.3! We took it to Silver Springs for our shakedown cruise this week and had a blast. Hot, muggy, and rainy, but not inside. New topper on the mattress and pillows and slept like a baby. Used an induction cook top to keep it cool and it was just perfect. The drop down cab bed worked great for our 11 year old. Like a Class C. So nice to have a full bathroom with closet space.

Drives a little wonky with such small tires, but felt stable enough. Gonna try new headlights. Needs a wax bad since it was faded. Would like to have a manual on the Ford chassis to take good care of it. Also, the heating elements below the black and gray tanks were coming off. Sneaker glue can fix most things. We could not empty the black tank! Our salesman did not properly explain the process that there were TWO black tank handles, one underneath the tank, the other by the gray tank. Fortunately the dealership was on the way home and the service tech got us going. Probably got hoodwinked buying the exterior and interior protection, oh well.

Can't wait to take it to the Florida Keys next month for my 50th birthday! Pictures will be shared!

Andrew

Hi Bob and thanks!
Yes, 50th will be on July 20th. The girls (wife and daughter) are taking me to Grassy Key RV Resort with a water view.
Gonna polish up the rig real nice before we go and see the sights for the first time. 7 years here in Florida and never been south of Ft. Lauderdale.

First, welcome to the forum and congrats on the purchase.

Go out to Thor's owner resource center, enter your VIN and you should find a lot of documentation for the coach. I believe Thor also provides a chassis manual in that documentation. If the chassis manual is not there you can get one from the Ford Owners site by entering the vin and vehicle into the garage.

May the travels be enjoyable and safe.

Congratulations on the new rig. I wish you and your family many, many miles of joy and excitement as you travel. I know that our family enjoyed years of fun and have fond memories of those adventures. Also hope that your first trip to the Keys will be super! We still go every year to Jolly Roger (almost next door to Grassy Key Park) and stay in our favorite spot on the seawall! Welcome to the forum, too.

Congratulations and welcome.

If you haven't already download and read Ed's excellent crowd sourced Axis/Vegas owner's manual found here:
https://www.thorforums.com/forums/f1...nual-4961.html

Yeah induction is the way to go: We recently re-did the kitchen in our Axis replacing the propane burners with an induction cooktop..

Welcome and congrats! Heed the wise words offered to you here.

Drives wonky? I bet you need an alignment. Find a place that does truck aligning and have it done loaded for travel. Suspension mods will help, if and when you are ready to spend some $$.

Happy trails!

Yes. I was thinking of that as we drove. Not horrible, but you could tell it was a little on the "loose" side.

Why? It's not on a F53 chassis. It's on an E450 chassis.

Not for a class A!

But the chassis are similar. I don’t believe the E450 V10 has the three valve engine, but that doesn’t matter much.

What are you trying to say?

This thread is regarding a Vegas 25.3 class A motorhome built on the Ford E450 chassis. It has nothing to do with class A motorhomes built on the F53 chassis so if anyone owns an Axis or Vegas they have no need to download the Ford F53 manual which you suggested.

Welcome, Andrew!

Congratulations on the new rig -- looks beautiful. When you have some time, check out the "Jerry's HurricaneMods" thread. A lot of great people and great ideas. I wish you years of fun and safe travels -- and a happy upcoming birthday!

Cheers!

Kent

Take a look through the thread in my signature.
I don't think there's anything 24.1 specific to anything I've done to it.
You'll have to slog through the recipes and unrelated bullcrap I post, but it's a good place to find little fixes for things you didn't even know was a problem.

(and thanks for the thanks on another thread.)
