First Motorhome
I've had three travel trailers over the last 20 years, but just ordered my first motorhome - 2021 Four Winds 26B on the GM 4500 chassis. They tell me it should arrive about 3 months from now. Yay!

I sure hope so! I'm really looking forward to it! Now comes the endless wait for it to be built. Fortunately, it's winter, so I wouldn't be able to use it anyway.

NOTE!!! Pack enough stuff and groceries to spend at least 2 days & nights in the dealership's parking lot or nearby rv park.. Use EVERY SYSTEM and FEATURE 2 or 3 times..
ie: Sleeping/cooking/doing dishes/showers/furnace/heat pump/A/C windows/doors/toilet/Awnings /leveling system, headlights/tail lights/TV's....GENERATOR....DUMPING the TANKS.......Use EVERYTHING!
You Want to find the defects BEFORE You Leave the Stealership..
That way You can SHOW THEM what is wrong....Without the "He said/She said/ I thought" bs..
Happy trails

Excellent advice, that I won't be able to follow. I'm a working stiff with wife and kids so spending that much vacation time on a non-vacation, and away from my family, just isn't going to happen. Also unfortunately, it's winter! (And turning out to be a pretty cold one here in OH.) I'll test what I can, but some things probably just won't be possible, like AC, and most of the plumbing. Shouldn't have any problem testing the furnace though!
That said, I've never had a dealership repair anything on any of my past TTs. I've done all of my own work (including replacing an axle - but I wouldn't do that one myself again!). I'd really only need them to fix something truly major like the slide, generator, AC or something along those lines, so I'm not all that worried about it. The AC is likely to be the only thing I won't be able to test that I wouldn't be able to repair myself.
The usual roof-sealing that I always do (climbing up on the roof and squirting Dicor anywhere that doesn't look like it has enough - usually go through 2-3 tubes of the stuff putting extra on all of the edge seams and around the other penetrations) will have to wait until Spring, but fortunately I have covered storage for it so that shouldn't be a big deal either.
Totally irrelevant, but still pretty neat: Looked up the VIN and the chassis (Chevy 4500) was made at the Springfield Navistar plant, about 10 miles away from me.

Other than correcting things found on delivery I would have a hard time ever going back to a sales dealership for service or repairs. Unlike cars you often can find an independent RV repair shop that is authorized to do warranty work. Since repair is their only business they are highly motivated to do good and timely work.

Picked it up today and am really happy! There was only one issue that came up during the PDI - the furnace vibrated (metal against metal sound) loudly when the gas was flowing to it. Not when just the fan was running, but when the burner was going. I had them fix the rattle.
The drive home also went well. Wind and blowing snow. It took 15 miles or so to get used to it, but then was fine. The Chevy handles better than I expected. (Drive home was about 60 miles.)
OCCC: 3045 lbs (Yay!)
