First Motorhome - Thor 33x

Hello all.

We've been RVers for several years, Aliner - bigger Aliner - Lance 2185 trailer and now a motorhome, the new 33x model.
Picked it up a few days ago after buying at a big RV show here in Tampa. Price determined we buy a gas powered as diesels are way above our range. We knew about the noise level, heard it on a test run, but wow, seems louder each time we drive!
Heard about possibly spraying 'Lizard Skin' under the doghouse. Any experiences with this?
Really just wanted to say Hi, glad to be here.

Welcome. Many of us have used Dynomat + Fat Matt. I used a couple of layers under the dog house and dash/firewall. It helped tremendously plus rejects the engine heat. Lot of write ups on this subject.

Enjoy your new ride.

If the area is clean "Lizard Skin" will help. I use a version of Dynamat which Summit Racing calls "Boom Mat". You can remove the dog house cover by removing the 4 screws (one at each corner) and adding insulation. My factory insulation was in good shape, so I cleaned it with acetone then applies the Boom Mat. Don't go wild with the thickness as there must be an air gap around the plastic intake manifold. Several have put rigid insulation on the house bottom under the seats. Since there is already 7" of insulation already there I doubt that would help. Be sure and read through "Jerry's Hurricane Mods". In the last four years, about every mod you can think of has been detailed there.

Wow, thanks for the greetings and replies!

It's a Windsport 33x, just brought it to our storage space yesterday. First actual trip will be to Disney's Ft. Wilderness in a couple of weeks.

I'll take a look at the matting suggestions, and thanks again.

I used to be a member of the Lance owners forum, so great to find this one. Moving on up !!

Hi there. This'll sound weird but at the Tampa rv show last week the Hurricane 33x was on sale $10K more than the Windsport 33x. Different dealers. Same motorhome.

Welcome to these forums.
Sure enough if you search the topic, you will find lots of discussion on the sound insulating.
