First time ever - ‘22 Thor Scope 18M

Hello all,
First timer here. Newbie to the scene. Good to meet everyone.
After months of research comparing multiple make and models, including stalking this forum, I am happy to share that I’ll be an owner of a ‘22 Thor Scope 18M. Will be picking it up on Weds.
If anyone has any tips and tricks for me, I would appreciate it.
Context: solo male (recently separated- no kids), NorCal, mid-40’s with a passion for motorcycle adventure/ camping also. Currently own a 2019 BMW F850GS & Honda Ridgeline (consider selling )
Might be TMI for first post.

Thanks,
MS

Welcome! Details are always good. You have a few days to select a PDI (pre-delivery inspection) worksheet you can follow. Previous posts here have recommended that you try every system, light, door and drawer. It's smart to ask if you can video the entire process for future reference. And be sure allow plenty of time.

Arrange to stay overnight at or near the dealer that night or asap. Then again try everything. The best dealer folks have given me a number to call with a quick question after hours, but I never needed it. Maybe no one does that anymore!

Happy trails!

Thank you for the tips Mr. Sunshine.
Unfortunately my Weds pick up is in jeopardy.
Apparently Dodge has “national back order” and the part.

“ Unrepaired Recalls associated with this VIN
Apr 27,2023
Manufacturer Recall Number 44A
NHTSA Recall Number 23V-301
Recall Status Recall Incomplete
Summary
Some 2019-2021 MY Ram ProMaster vehicles
equipped with the 62TE transmission may not
allow the park pawl to fully engage the park gear due to debris interference.
Safety Risk
A partially engaged park pawl may lead to a vehicle roll away increasing the likelihood of a vehicle crash without prior warning and/or injury”

Actually this might be a blessing in disguise. Use this time for getting better educated,. You might know more than the tech by the time you get to your PDI!

I’m a newbie too (3 months) and I couldn’t agree more with Mr Sunshine! A thorough delivery inspection would have saved us lots of time and angst! The young lady who gave us our walk-around had only done one previous inspection on our model and to say she was unfamiliar with it would be an understatement. Thor has some good videos (with which the lady was unfamiliar) that will help a great deal. Time and a good checklist are what you need. Ours is three months old and sitting in a Thor service center having warranty items fixed…the estimated completion time is two months! Good luck.

Update

So it’s been about 2 weeks with the scope and I’m loving it.
First off, the recall issue was resolved with dealer urgency applied to the local RAM dealership. Inspection, software update, and no need for parts replacement made the delivery happen as scheduled.
Secondly, with everyone’s feedback and some due diligence, I spent 4 hours doing my PDI - and all went well. Although, I did experience 2 minor issues.
1 - loose bed frame and island table base screws - as suggested by others…really good idea to check everything is screwed in good.
2 - towel rod on the back door fell off. Easy fix.

So what did I do the weekend after pick up?
3 nights in Yosemite village and got to really test it out in cold weather, got familiar with the LP fill process at a local Uhaul, cassette dump at the rest up, water fill and drain at Yosemite’s lower pine camp site.
Tbh, I should have probably ran the heat all night instead of having unfounded anxiety on running out of LP. By the end of the trip, I still had 1/5 tank of LP left.

Really looking forward to the next adventure…taking it to Tahoe and hitting the slopes.

Throw a small 120V electric space heater in it somewhere. When on hookups, use it instead of LP. Fill LP often...1/5 is low in case you had an emergency on the road and needed extended heating. Good job on the process...you nailed it.

Solid tip, just added a 450w small electric heater to the cart, and a set of snow socks vs. chains for just in case. Btw, 1/5 was a typo, it was actually 1/2 - but noted.
