Forum help

I have a new Vegas 24.1, and have never owned an RV in the past, so I joined the Thor Forum. I go under the name RichRob, and have been getting many of my questions answered through this Forum. I use the app on both my iPhone and iPad. Each day I get a pop up message, but when I select it, the app opens up and brings me to the Forum page, but not to the topic, which I never can find. How do I get there?

Android app for this Forum sucks! I get random pop ups that have nothing to do with any threads I've subscribed to. I think it's an auto function to generate activity for itself to make itself look busy. I don't use the app anymore. Slid her over to "uninstall".

My Android phone does... okay.
On my P,C.: Edge is horrible!
...and Chrome is only marginally better

I spend most of my time on the forum reading on my Windows 10 PC in Edge. No issues here (but I am a former IT guy, so...) I have the iOS version on my iPhone and it seems to work well but different from the browser based version. The Android version on my Samsung tablet is also different and works well. Neither version gives me a pop up unless I have a new PM from someone.

Edge keeps getting "hung up", and things time out on me!
Do you have any advice for what I should be looking at?

Well, Edge by default manages passwords and form entries, and tracks where you have been and uses that data to "speed up" your next attempt to return. Of course, many of these are NOT considered to be "safe" computing/browsing practices but Microsoft is Microsoft and they want to collect as much data as possible to make their own search engine (Bing) work more efficiently to compete with Google, etc. Although much "lighter" than Internet Explorer, Edge still eats a lot of RAM and once you get more than a few websites loaded in tabs, things start to slow down considerably (especially if the sites automagically reload themselves over and over.) Edge is basically Microsoft's answer to Chrome and uses the HTML5 protocol as its base. There aren't a lot of plugins for Edge as a result but the web code for a lot of the modern sites can be challenging in that they use far more code to create a layout then previous versions. Under the three dot (…) menu in the upper right of the address bar, check for any Extensions that may have been installed... they eat a lot of RAM and are generally not needed.

And the interweb is a heartless place... many requests go straight into the bit bucket never to be responded to. Through no fault of yours.

Anyway, that is probably too much and at too high a level. I would go back and set the defaults back (if you have changed anything - it tends to prompt you from time to time as it tracks your use) and be careful with the Advanced Settings.

My GMC 2500HD eats a lot of RAM too! And that "bit bucket"...can't never find it when I want to use it.
