Rear view camera

I have a Challenger 37KT with a AVM111NAVLH navigation unit. I like to use the rear view camera as I drive because I tow a car and like to keep an eye on it. When I use a directional it switches to a side view camera and as the directional is canceled so is the camera monitor so I have to manually put it back on the rear camera.
The manufacturer has put out a firmware update to eliminate this problem on several models. The update and instructions can be found on their website.
Go to https://mito-oem.com/ , click on "Support" on the top bar and then click on "Firmware", select the correct model of your unit. Be sure to follow the directions for the correct sequence of steps.
After this installation your camera will return to rear view after the directional is cancelled.
Good luck and happy travels.

Thanks for the tip. I just ran the firm ware and worked as advertised. I also have a separate monitor to keep the backup camera on the jeep but now the radio doesn't mute when I turn signals on. That's a nice improvement.

Thanks for the comment.

Can you describe the method you used to connect a separate monitor that does not shut off with the directional? That sounds like a good idea.

The video feed from the camera switch box to the radio is a simple RCA cable. Simply get a RCA splitter cable to feed the second monitor.

Isn't the output from that box switched to the side cameras when the directionals are used?

I don't know what model Thor you have. On the Vegas/Axis, the camera module is in the dash under a panel right above the steering wheel. Very easy to find. I ran the RCA cable from there under the dash and out of the tray above the radio. I ran the power cord under the dash over to the outlet by the passenger cup holder. You can also just connect to a 12v under the dash somewhere if you wish. I have the monitor setting on the dash behind the tray. The mounting stand is folded at an angle to act as a tripod to hold it in place. Sorry I don't have any pictures. I'll try to post one in the next couple of days. Here is the monitor I used:

Yes, but it goes back to the rear view camera when the signals are cancelled. If you don't want the rear view overridden by the side cameras you can either cut the trigger wires to the multiplex box or tap into the rear camera before it enters the box: BUT the cameras do not feed into the box with RCA connectors.

I re-read your original post and saw you have a Challenger. I am quite familiar with the Mirimar which is basically a Challenger. It will work exactly as 16ACE27 explained. I prefer to have the side cameras on the larger monitor when turning, I can still see my jeep behind me during the turn. It immediately switches back to the rear camera. If you want to have constant view of your toad, do as 16ACE27 said, disconnect or interrupt.
