Freedom Elite handling

Driving back from Colorado in some terrible wind. My shoulders ache from trying to keep it on the road. Much play in the steering wheel. After reading your posts I don't know if I need to install the Safe-T-plus stabilizer or the Sumo Springs. I would appreciate your feedback.

You can add some suspension upgrades but the fact is a lightweight RV in heavy winds is never fun.

There shouldn't be any play in the steering wheel so maybe have that check out.

I added safety-t-plus after it was aligned and it helped a lot but Brian is correct the wind is a pain. We just did 6000 miles out west and there where times it was brutal, I actually stopped I Cheyenne, Wy because I was tired of fighting it, then I found out they shut down 80 because of wind. I have no answer but Saf-T-plus did help some what.

I ran in to some very bad wind gusts in north Palm Springs, CA, on the I-10. I hate to think how the Axis would have handled without the Saf-T-Plus. As it was, I was pushed into the next lane when I was doing 45 mph. Bad wind is just plain bad, but suspension mods will help.

Mostly on the strength of recommendations on this and other forums I put a Safe-T-Plus on my new 2017 Freedom Elite 26HE before we left on a 4000 mile tour of western states. It was a straightforward driveway job. In New Mexico we had wind advisories of 35-40 mph with gusts to 50. Kept me on my toes for sure but never felt unsafe or even tense. It'll never drive like a sports car but it shouldn't wear you out.
