We are blessed,

We have just purchased our first RV and are so very excited to see what our future has for us. We are expecting grandbaby #6 and look forward to making many wonderful memories with all of them.
I've always been a renter, and being a owner has shown me how much I don't know. Grateful for forums like this, quite a wealth of information, knowledge and wisdom around here.
I'll see you at the beach.

Our ACE was a rental for two seasons before we purchased. We figured all the normal shakedown "bugs" would have been taken care off and for the most part they were. As this wasn't our first MH we purchased an extended warranty as this unit has, IMHO more (costly) things that can go wrong than our last 2006 Gulfstream.
Our only "major" issue was on our first trip out the toilet backed up. That is when I learned about "poo-dams". The toilet not being over the black tank and as most renters aren't too worried about black tank flushing before returning a rental, we had to power blast the accumulated paper/poo dam pile out of the black tank. After learning that lesson about water, water and more water for solids we have been happy, happy, happy.
Suggestion take that ex-rental out to the nearest full hook up RV park and flush out all the tanks. Most renters aren't too concerned about tank flushing and the rental company isn't going to put solids in the tank to check the plumbing. For them if it flushes water its good to go. Better to check it out first than hit the road like we did and have to try and clean it at a dump station. Mark

Welcome! You’re going to learn SO much here! Don’t let anyone discourage you with their issues. I like your coach. It’s compact and relatively simple. You’re going to love it! Travel happy.

^^what Pete said^^ for sure! Rental units probably get more attention to needed repairs than any other coaches, anywhere. They must keep them up and running and in good shape. A friend of mine here in ATL has a MH rental business. Pretty impressive, the steps he goes through and the inspection process before any unit leaves out. Yours looks new!!

"Don’t let anyone discourage you with their issues"

I hope our experience with the rental unit we purchased was not taken as discouragement. I was trying to let the OP hopefully learn from our mistake. Most renters don't know the ins and outs of RVng. They are handed the keys and are given a per functionary once over on how systems in a coach work. Most folks don't know how a marine gravity toilet works and plugging up a black tank with excess paper is common when you are used to flush toilets. The black tank is the one system in our PDI that, other than flushing some water down the toilet, didn't get a thorough test. It is also the only system in our used coach that came back to bite us.

Sorry if it sounded like I was pointing fingers! Yours is a very useful, relevant and specific suggestion - just what the OP was seeking. My observation was more generally about all the negative posts that seem to populate this (and most other) forums. It’s a recreational vehicle after all and it is very helpful to maintain a good humor with the inevitable vexations.

The last few posts are the perfect example of how things can become so misunderstood on forums and blogs. The lack of facial expression and voice tone leaves a straight line statement that often gets mistaken. I've learned to trust wisdom and re-read everything over and over that someone posts before commenting. I think every post in this thread is a good, common-sense post and all will end in a good end result! Keep those comments coming!!

Here's a good example:

"Let's eat, Grandma!!
"Lets eat Grandma"!!

Oh, how important the difference and end result of the "little comma"!

I have one of those, a 2012 23A. It turned out to be a good buy. I bought an extended warranty just to be safe. I've never had to use it.

You think a misplaced comma can get you in trouble? Try a missed period!

I agree completely that we're blessed. I know that I've been watched over and taken care of, in both my good and not so good days. I give thanks several times per day.

See you at our beach, but we need to wait until climate change really takes hold, because we are in Idaho.
