Hello, Eh!

Hey from Canada!

I'm so happy to have found ya's! I'm thisclose to *finally* buying my 1st Motorhome & I'm scarexcited. After reviewing every A, B & C (since I started knowin' nothing!), I kept coming back to the cute l'il Thor Majestic 23A. It's gonna suit my needs perfectly. A used model in my price range is hard to come by in my area, but the RV shows are a few weeks away, so I'm hoping when someone goes for shiny & new, I can scoop up their trade!

I was widowed a couple of years ago...in my mid-40s. And to add to the fun, a few years before that, I screwed up my back & can't work. So right now my day consists of staring at the wall or yelling at Dr Phil on TV. LOL

But I've finally decided on what's next for me & that's to see much more of my country & the US. I've decided to sell my condo & "go gypsy" for the next couple of years. Of course I've gotta head home every once in a while to prove to the Tax Man I still love me some Canada...but I also have to see my doc regularly, so that won't be a problem. Just gonna break my travel up into manageable bites.

Even though my whole life I've joked that for me camping means "a hotel with no mint on the pillow", this seems like a great way to see a lot of places at my own pace. I can stop when I need to & my bed is right there. No need to scramble to find a hotel, etc. It's small enough that I can drive to parks & attractions. Or I have my mobility scooter to get around if I'm close to where I'm going. It just all made sense.

Anyway, I'm rambling. I don't get out much & Dr Phil doesnt reply back. LOL

Nice to meetchas,
J

Welcome, eh! I grew up just 40 miles from Osoyoos, BC. And, with good friends in Oroville, wa, we always ran across the border for pizza at a reeely good restaurant.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your wife and the back injury! I can relate to the back issues. I have had issues most of my adult life. Bad headache/neck pain and low back. I went on disability in 2012. I applaud your positive attitude showing in your post! Good for you!
If you are willing/able to travel a bit you may be able to find a gently used unit of your liking. After having an inspection, my wife & I flew to S.C. in April to purchase our new/used 2016 WS31. We had a ball with the adventure driving it home!
Good luck in your search! Be well!
Pat

I think you are wise to stay small, so much more manageable. We down sized from a 41 foot DP bus to the current Gemini, and though the small interior does present some challenges, its only my wife, small dog and me, so we manage quite well. Many years ago, I spent the better part of a year, in the Toronto area. Too cold for me, though. Good luck with your purchase and future travels.

Thanks so much for the welcome, Pat! (And everyone else!)
But whoops...I seem to have forgotten one thing about myself in my intro...
I'm a girl. LOL. It didn't even occur to me...but yeah, I guess solo female drivers are kinda few & far between, huh?

Welcome to the community! I agree with the others. Start out small but with enough room that you will be happy and if you can, purchase a good used coach. I bought new and now that I know what questions to ask, I can't afford another one as I probably lost at least 40% when I drove it off the lot.

Welcome to the form and I like your sense of humor. Keeping a good sense of humor really helps when you're camping.
Hope you find the right camper for you and if you stick around here, you will certainly find a lot of answers to questions you may have. Also, met a lot of solo old and young women campers over the years that are having a great time traveling with and without pets.
Happy future trails

Girls RVing aren't as few as you might think. If you have any interest in dogs or horses you should check out a dog show or horse show. You will see plenty of girls driving rigs of all sizes! You might get a good idea of how they outfit their rigs too.
