Hello - GREAT FORUM

Last year I bought a 1994 Dutchman 37 ft as my entry level to RVing. It's a Four Winds unit mad by Thor. I figured $8,000 was a small enough investment to see if RVing is something that my wife would actually enjoy doing. We have gone on trips before with friend but OWNING is a lot different than riding along. Given a few years if she wanted to venture out farther, we would purchase a newer one with slides & extras.

We took it on it's maiden voyage last July & she really enjoyed herself. So for the next year or so I want to make this rig as enjoyable & care free as possible FOR HER! lol

Anyway Great site, lots of VEHICLE SPECIFIC information. Thanks for having me!

Welcome to the best Forum around (IMO).

I love your RV.... those large windows are awesome. I assume they are over a sofa?

When you get time post some pic's of the inside of your RV. We mostly see MH's from the last 5 or 7 years on this forum so this is a learning experience for me.

Have you done any mod's or update yet?

30 amp service?

Any slides?

No, unfortunately no slides but for an entry level RV it's big enough until we upgrade.

This rig is a time capsule. It WAS all original down to the crushed velour upholstery & big tube tv. The bay Windows are actually opposite of the L-shaped sofa. It had 2 issues when I bought it:
1. The brakes needed work. Bad Master cylinder, moisture in the lines
2. Short in the truck A/C & blower controls

Yes I have done some upgrade to it. 40" Flat screen TV, Dish Playmaker satellite , Carplay Stereo, backup/side cameras, TPMS system, LED headlights & leveling monitors. Currently installing hardwood floors and a new counter top. I wanted to make it comfortable for the Mrs but still think a newer one will be sought out in the next year or 2.

Thats really cool. Yeah at 37 foot (10 foot longer than mine) you should have decent room to spread out. A few upgrades and I think the Mrs. will be happy.

What engine? How is the noise level inside (while driving of coarse - lol).

454 Chevy engine P30 workhorse chassis. Noise level is not bad. I re insulated the engine cover and am placing sound deadening insulation under the hardwood floor to further reduce cabin noise.

That looks awesome! Good job. If I had time I wouldnt mind a project like this (as long as it has good bones). You can make it your own and after a few years Im sure you will get most of your money out (if you dont go too fancy - lol)

I think I have a pretty good idea. In my mid twenties I bought a 38 ft Egg Harbor boat. It needed much more work that this RV. In 6 months of restoration ,it was my main residence for 6 years until I met my wife & we bought a house. That boat taught me most of my home repair skills lol.

That was more years ago than I was alive then.
This RV has been as much fun

Yeah.... you purchase an RV or Boat because you really enjoy them as much as you enjoy where you can go WITH them. Its a labor of love.

We will never get our money back out of them but that is the price we pay for wonderful memorys with family and Friends. And Im fine with that..... I would not have it any other way.
