Hello from Hillsboro OR

Just picked up a 2018 THOR Citation 24SJ Summit Package from Johnson RV...it’s beautiful and we cannot wait to get mobile!...we’re still in orientation mode so I’m finding the forum notes compelling reading (but who created the Forum format?…it’s crazy!)...so, first observation, while off shore power, the house battery went down to 10v while running the fridge on LP for just over 6 hours...the LP generator wouldn’t start...is that normal?...I bet I have more puzzles to solve in these early days...cheers, Ian

Welcome to the forum. Sometimes it takes several tries for the generator to start.

If the battery (or is it batteries?) couldn't hold a charge for that length of time: there's something going on with them.
Can you check the water levels in them? It's possible that they've never been topped-off...
Good luck!

Hi Harmsy

Welcome to the forum. With your Thor Citation you said you have the Summit Package and are having an issue with the coach batteries dipping down in voltage after 6 hrs of frige use. The summit package comes with a 100 amp solar coach battery charging system and should help keep those coach batteries from draining so quickly. I would start at the coach batteries first. They should be tested under load and most auto shops(Pep Boys, Auto Zone. NAPA) will test them for free. Most probably they need to be replaced. I have a 2018 Thor Siesta 24SS with the summit package. I had to change out my house batteries(which are under the steps at the entry door) this past December 2019. I bought my motor home brand new in March 2018. The factory batteries were dated 2017. I purchased two replacement deep cycle marine batteries as replacements. I am also sending you a pm with the details.

Paul

We had to replace the house batteries in our 2020 Vegas 24.1 after 1 week. The dealer replaced them under warranty. They sit around on the lot for months with vampire voltage drain and no maintenance and you the customer end up with dead or dying batteries .

Nearly ready for our inaugural trip...we're off to Central Oregon on Monday...we've had 8 of the 12 issues sorted and have parts ordered for the other 4...but I have discovered 2 new issues tonight...reminder: it's a 2018 THOR Citation 24SJ...
1) quick connect for the BBQ doesn't have any LP at the connector any ideas?......and yes, the main valve is 'on'...
2) when running the A/C, the 'condensate' runs off the roof from the A/C unit but ends up dripping over the door aperture by the awning...where is it supposed to drain?...

Propane for BBQ has a shut off located at the point you insert the hose.
A/C has no drain. Depends on how you level your coach to direct run off.

Thanks Nosticks!......found the tap/switch at the connector but it didn’t help...maybe I will clamber underneath and see if it’s corroded or something...the quick connector did need some WD40 to loosen that up....and correct on the level for the condensate run off...cheers and thx.

If the propane line has never been used before, it may take a couple of tries before the propane flows through the long hose. You have to purge the air out.

What Paul said...
We started by running the stove and refrigerator... and then crossed our fingers!

Thanks Paul and Bob for the further thoughts...I connected the bbq hose at the quick connector again today...it may have been easier to light today than yesterday so therefore air being in the pipe could be the issue..,how much longer do you think I should run it?...maybe 10 more minutes?...what is the block that the quick fit Is connected too?...there’s an ‘in and out’ plus another port with a plug in it...a regulator of some kind?…
I just love this forum....thanks all!
