Hello from Indy!

Hi! We just upgraded from a 2016 28' Dutchmen Aerolite 282DBHS to a 2024 Omni BT36, and we are so excited to put it to use. Our family has a caravan road trip out west coming up and we're trying to find all the extra crap that we'll need in an RV instead of a travel trailer. It definitely changes a lot! We're planning on flat-towing our 2018 GMC Yukon Denali and I'm a bit annoyed at the amount of extra stuff we have to get. I guess it's a lot like starting out with a trailer, just more extreme. I love how it has solar panels and 4x4, I think hubby and I will be able to explore once the kids are moved out.

Anyone else in an Omni/Magnitude? We plan on sleeping 6 for our trip, but our older two kiddos are out of high school, so it won't be 6 for much longer. We also camp with our doggies, and I'm curious to see how they handle riding in the RV instead of sitting in the truck.

So far we've had to take down a sliding door and adjust the latch mechanism and reattach the slide track and our LED lights flicker when we're running on generator power.

Welcome from a fellow Hoosier and congratulations on your new RIG.

We moved from a 29ft Rockwood camper to our current MH back in 2020.

Although not an Omni, a lot of the dynamics of owning/operating a MH re the same.

Sliding door: Yes, fine tuning and lubricating is not in their manufacturing procedures so take your time and do it and it will all be fine.
You will notice that when new it has several noises it makes when on the road that can be eliminated by pinpointing where it is coming from and fixed.
Ours is almost "noise free" right now.

What system are you using for towing your car?

We're looking at the Roadmaster base plate and Nighthawk tow bar. Haven't nailed down an auxiliary brake system yet because my husband is convinced that we don't need it since the RV has engine braking. I've reminded him that it's the law, so we'll see how it goes. At this point I'm thinking a tow-dolly might be easier.

We are very happy with Invisibrake and 4 wheel down.
It is "connect and forget" set up

By the time a person puts their car on the dolly, we are already on the road...
But the dolly does give more flexibility on what car you tow behind...

I have the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar and Blue Ox Base plate. I use the Demco Stay N Play braking system that is installed in our car. I just have to flip a toggle to activate the system. It is very quick and easy system. I used to use a tow dolly with surge disc brakes on the tow dolly. The flat tow system is much quicker and easier to use. I am very happy with it. You will need a braking system for your towed car. Most states are now requiring them.

Congrats on the new rig. The flickering (I assume all of them flicker in unison) is most likely a poor connection someplace. Can't say where but it won't be fun to try and find unless of course it is at the generator or where the generator connects to the switch. Those would be my first two looks.

Congrats and it looks relly nice. If lights are flickering only on generator, please have someone look at before going camping. Could be a loose wire at the the transfer switch, have a great summer and enjoy your new coach
