Hello from Jan in Chicago Thor Outlaw c

Well, it's been an adventure. Bot a used Outlaw , In Florida, changed the tires and batteries in Georgia and drove it back to Chicago during the blizzard, new batteries not charging. While waiting for spring, I am reading Casey's Sailboat electronics simplified. For starters, I will learn how to hook up the leads and turn on the tester. Id give my eye teeth for a decent electrical schematic for a class C outlaw.

No regrets yet. but it's a letdown. But as someone said, when you are out of problems you're out of the game.

Jan

So glad I stumbled upon this forum.:

Welcome aboard.
Go to the Thor website and click on the owners' resources link. Register the Outlaws V.I.N. number. The information for your coach is available to you.

Myself and a few others on here have owned the Class C Outlaw so there is a wealth of information on the forum.

I owned a new '18 Outlaw 29H for two seasons and I think I have a few brain cells left that might remember some things about it. Feel free to ask.

Thanks, Judge,

I will certainly call on you. I vacillated between buying the H and the J. couldn't find a used S at all. I liked the kitchen layout better on the J from the plan but the garage is a foot smaller. So I chose an H. I Love it..... now that I spent a week in it. Nice spacious bathroom layout and kitchen is out of the way of the living area a bit. Jan

So glad I stumbled upon this forum.:
Which new batteries? House or chassis?
Not charging while plugged in? Or driving? Or both

Give us good information and you'll get good, relevant answers.

House. On my first repair stop, I had both house batteries replaced. That RV centershop in Georgia said the converter was over charging and turned off the breaker. Odd they didn't notice the corrosion on the cables. I never plugged into shore power on the trip home. Second stop in southern illinois, The tech said the IRD was not working which is why the engine alternator was not charging the house batteries, (still no mention of corroded cables) the third stop in Naperville where I took the rig to be winterized also replaced the battery cables and provided a photo showed cables terribly corroded. I bought a replacement IRD and a converter but have not installed them yet.

Sooooo, what do you need help with? Year and model Outlaw is information needed.

No such thing as a good schematic. You use to be able to get some hybrid wiring/connection diagrams on the Thor Owners Resource site but now it just seems overloaded with Quick Start Guides (QSGs) and how-to videos. Component manuals are there but the electrical and plumbing diagrams seems to have disappeared, at least for my coach.

Was it campers inn in Naperville? If it was how is their service dept. They are 5 minute drive for me but prices of rvs are 10k higher than most.
