Hello:

This coming Saturday my wife and I are picking up our first RV - a 2016 Miramar! I will have many questions for the group, but will start off slow:

1) Pick up day is Saturday - any checklists available would be helpful? What should we make sure we cover, etc. Hints and advice is very welcome.

2) There are a number of places on the web advertising covers for the RV. Any recommendations on which ones are worth it? As the RV will not be covered I would like to cover it to provide some protection.

Congratulations.

1) You can google for RV checklists--there are plenty on the internet. My advice is to have the dealer go through EVERY system in the RV and show you it working and how to maintain it (e.g. for the water system they should show you it on city water, on the internal pump and show you all the valves and fixtures used for winterizing it).

2) I've had good luck with Adco covers as sold at Camping World: ADCO Covers

Call the dealer now and tell them you will refuse delivery if the coach includes Harris batteries.

Do a walk through first before you sign the papers.. Note all problems, and do not sign the papers until they are corrected. Work all slides 6 to 12 times, make certain they show you how to winterize the unit. Check the AC refrig, micro wave. It it has levelers than cycle them quite a few times. Make them show you the sat hook ups make film it if you can. Last start the furnace, and let run for 20 minutes. That will allow all of the oil to be burned off

I echo Dave's comments, get them to swap out any Harris Batteries...it is a long sad story in the making with Harris Batteries (see other threads this forum).

Make sure ALL appliances work - refrigerator, stove/oven, or microwave/convection oven, AC unit(s) and furnace(s). If water heater can be operated by both propane and electric, make sure both work. Check all lights, run generator ( for more than a few seconds ). Run water pump, and test all faucets, toilet, etc.. Check all electronics - TV, radio, CD or DVD player if so equipped. Test levelers if present, and, as has already been said, operate slides. Accept nothing until you are satisfied. If you don't understand something, ask. Best of luck with your coach. On point I did not make earlier:

Do not sign the contract until after the PDI is complete and items have been fixed to your liking. Once you sign the final contract it then becomes your coach. Until then it is a coach the dealer is trying to sell.
