Hello from Missouri

Hello forum, I just want to stop in and say hi and I hope to be around a little bit from time to time to see what you all are upto. I'm Phil or zman whichever you prefer. I had a near death experience going on two years ago and have been recuperating since. I've not been able to work in this time so I've had plenty of time to think about life and it's value. I've come to the conclusion that it is just to short to spend working and hoping that I will live long enough to retire and spend the money I've put aside for my retirement. So I pulled the trigger last week and took the Harley upto Decatur Illinois and bought me a barely used 2014 Thor 37MD Outlaw with 18000 miles and in fantastic condition. so this December my wife, my TBI son, my three huskies, and I are going to hit the road for a year to see if we like it and if we do then we'll come back to missouri and sell the house and become full timers. Working when we need to and enjoying life the rest of the time. I've got until December to get a solar system designed and installed with a few other green mods to do inside so I'll be hitting you guys up for a second set of eyes as it were. I'm a union Electrician for 15 years and a plain old Electrician for 19 before that so I understand the math and principles of solar, but I have yet to install one....until now. So I'm sure you'll be hearing from me (probably more than you would care to) , but until then I'll just say howdy from Missouri!

Howdy from a fellow Missourian

We just bought a small VEGAS with the idea of doing something similar. Not sure I can "not work" (yet) but definitely looking forward to spending more our lives on the road

We are down in SW Missouri. Be sure and post some of your experiences and feelings about life on the road...

Mike...seeing you are in SW Missouri...have you been to West Plaines ?
We stopped at Chipmunk Crossing RV Park on our return from Florida in July.
It is south of West Plaines...a great small campground run by a terrific couple.

Been to West Plains many times, just never in the coach. Been working too much since we bought it, just taken it out for short runs to get used to it. Thanks for the suggestion about Chipmunk Crossing. Been wanting to take some time and head down that way toward Alley Spring and Mammoth Spring (sounds like we have a water obsession here)

That is one thing that kind of concerns me. How to find good places to camp. Always done the truck and tent camping before, so the MH camping is really new to us

thanks for the warm welcome

I will try to share while we're out, I haven't even started to address the whole internet on the road issue, but it is something that I will definitely have to do since my sons and I are both world of Warcraft fanatics and it gobbles up bandwidth. I will also keep you posted on my efforts to go as green as possible in the RV. So lots to look forward to. See ya soon

Missouri has many State Parks and the website is well organized. We have a couple in NW Missouri we like. We do like to get on the road for an extended trip, but are finding more nearby spots to which we can go to spend a nite or two.
Want to go to Taneycomo before season ends. Had a cabin on Lake of Ozarks for many years and know there are several good campsites there too.

We have a great, small, city owned campground on the MO river right here in Leavenworth. We have run down there for a night out a number of times this summer. About 10 minutes from home.

Let us know if you discover a neat place nearby.

Oh...in addition..There are some neat places in Arkansas too !

I don't play well with salesmen ( I think one of my teachers wrote that on one of my report cards once upon a time), but thanks for the thought.
