hello from Socal.

Hello. My name is Josh. I'm a new Thor owner.
[evreyone] hello Josh! [/evreyone]

New owner of a Thor Four winds 31E. biggest RV ive ever been in let alone owned. I'm a self-taught beginner IT person. i love building/working on/ using computers. thinking of starting my own mobile IT support company. the RV could be my base of operations for such a business.

bought on 6/15/2018 and took delivery 6/20. No pics yet. not till i fix all the new owner stuff. I sure wish I had come across this forum BEFORE we bought the thor. it was between the 31e and a winnebago. I wanted the later so i could be like lonestar in Spaceballs (major mel brooks fan.)but the thor was almost 15K cheaper and now i see why. i dont have to tell anyone of the (lack-of) quality job they assembled it with.

still maxing out my credit card online (amazon prime) buying stuff for it but mods/plans include:

small network rack
2Kw pure sine wave inverter.
high wattage solar (more than 500w planned)
perhaps a slightly higher generator for rack. )5 or 5.5 from the 4 that came with.
install a actual porchlight.
replace awning LED strip with WS2818 strip. (individual LED color controlled. think of advanced dancing christmas lights.)
install carpet.
remove bunks for closet and washer/dryer combo
swap out fridge with one with ice maker/water in door.

so thats me. mabye we'll meet somewhere eventualy.

P.S. here's a pic of my home network rack i built, setup, and use for me and my family.

Congratulations and welcome.

What would you use to control the WS2818 a Pi or an Arduino? (I think I'd use a Pi with WiFi or an Arduino with Bluetooth so I could also control it with a phone.)

Don't feel bad about not going for the Winnebago. ALL of the manufacturers comply with the Federal Standard of Minimum Defects. It immediately makes the buyer aware of the details of their coach over the first six months...some longer. Thor is a great product and you will come to love her!!

ether an ethernet connected arduino or an older Pi. i also plan to incorp. a pi for various monitoring and or control. for example replace that ready-camp touchscreen shit remote with a smartphone app i can control from anywhere.

yea i knew there would be flaws but certainly not to this level. ironically im a honda civic guy. civic project car, and 2 toyotas in the garage. this is the first domestic and first Found On Road Dead (ford) for me in my lifetime.

Cool. Well here is a way to make an Ardunio measure your tank levels (if you're impatient you can skip to the end):

Having fun on Amazon Prime?

If a boat is "a hole in the water; into which one throws money": a motorhome is merely a "hole in the woods" with the same purpose!

Welcome to our campfire!
