Hello- from Victoria BC- New Compass & TV question

Hello Everyone!

We purchased a 2018 Compass 24TF on Saturday and had our first outing the same night! Having read so many posts on this site we were braced for a few issues here and there and so far there are only a few minor bugs to work out and we already have a booking for a few tuneups. Many thanks to everyone that has posted info on Compass/Gemini models. It helped us make our purchasing decision.

I have one question. Our digital antenna is working and we are able to pick up 3 channels from Seattle. We wanted to try reception with cable and did a hookup but can't find any signal at all. The Digital antenna reception comes through when the TV is set to "TV" What setting will receive the cable signal?

Thanks!
gera

Welcome to the Forum!
There is probably an "external antenna" booster switch, and you need to turn that to "Off"; when you're hooked up to cable...
If you follow the cable down from where your external antenna comes into your rig: you should be able to find it.

...the little switch is on the cable outlet in the cupboard above the fridge. I turned it off then put the TV on Channel 3 and the signal came on!

Thanks!

Towing with a Compass 24TF

Hello All

We are going to be towing a MINI on a dolly behind our Compass 24TF. We have checked with BMW and this will be fine for the car and the associated warranties.*

We wonder if anyone here can give us input on towing with a Compass- the effect on braking and manouverability etc? Any suggestions on dolly brands?

Other words of wisdom?

Cheers!

Gera

The hitch on your rig is rated for 5,000 pounds, and the difference between the Max GVW, and the max CGVW is about 4,500 pounds...
You should have more than enough available, to tow a MINI.

gerachandler, I am hoping for future postings from you as I am looking at selling my current rig and purchasing a Gemini/Compass 24TF (or Siesta/synergy/citation 24SS). I am leaning towards 24TF cuz I like the full slide vs 2 separate slides. How does your 24TF take the mountains and what is your diesel mileage on your trips? Thanks for any info you share.

Hello and I am glad to say that we really like our Compass 24TF. It is small by RV standards but easy to live in and convenient for most parking situations. It does very well on mountain roads and we have a good test of that with the Malahat here on Vancouver Island! We are currently getting burning 15 litres of diesel per every 100km.

Cheers!

mini toad

Gerachandler, are you using a mini as your Toad? How is the 24TF handling the extra load? Are you getting the 15 litres per 100 km towing the mini?

"Toad" and a Compass... a work in progress

Hi again.... we bought a 2019 mini convertible and I am so in love with her that I do NOT want her to be a toad- the idea of slamming her on a dolly - no way!...currently on short trips I drive behind the Compass and love every second! We do plan to get a vehicle for towing but it will be all wheels down... likely a fiat 500 convertible. We will have our eyes open for one when we begin serious travels and if we think a second vehicle is needed. The Compass fits nicely in most places as it is only 2 car lengths long. Currently we are mostly travelling on Vancouver Island and city parking is rarely an issue. We do have a scooter which loads nicely on the back but if we take our daughter on some trips I am happy to drive my mini behind the Compass so we can pack three people for side trips!
