Hello From Washington --

Well we take delivery of our 2021 Aria 3401 Thursday and heading to California the following week. Going to do a single overnight close to home(just in case).
We have been boating in the Puget Sound and Columbia River for 25 years and now time to check out the LAND. Hopefully we bump into some of you this summer.

Welcome HMCSW to the forum. Be prepared for higher fuel costs here in California. In southern California we have been having bouts with high winds lately. We have been having good sunshine and temps. In our area restaurants are open with either indoor or outdoor dining(maybe not in L A County/City). Orange county has open restaurants. Our theme parks are still closed except if you want to go shopping in Downtown Disney/DCA Park. No rides are open yet. I would avoid the San Francisco Bay area(City). Traffic and a high auto burglary rate happens there right now. We are heading out in a week to Utah to the snow for a few days in our motor home to visit some friends. Enjoy the new ride and experience.

Paul

Haha: the best side of the state. We escaped from Seattle a while back to Skamania County.

In the 80s Seattle smelled like cedar: now is smells like pee. Where do you park in ID near you? At the lake or go north?

Welcome! Your boating experience will adapt well to RVing. Make sure you have a pen and paper handy for your questions and for the things you find wrong since there are usually warrantable issues the first couple of times out.

We've been RVing (and boating) for years and I've gotten to where I use checklists so that I don't overload my old brain trying to remember everything. We traded in our 5th wheel last November for the motorhome and have only been out a couple of times but I've started a checklist that you might find helpful. It's a work in progress and if anyone has recommendations I'm all ears.

- Black & Grey Tanks Drained, Hose and Couplers Stowed
- Drain Cap On
- TV Stowed, bracket knobs tightened
- Ladder stowed
- Front Bunk Net Up
- Antenna Amplifier off
- Items stowed, cabinet doors closed
- TV antenna Stowed
- Water Pump Off
- Water Heater Off (Gas Switch)
- Water Heater Off (Electrical Switch)
- Furnace Off
- Range Hood Fan & Light Off
- A/C Off
- Refrigerator set to Auto (Or Turned Off)
- Skylights Closed
- Windows Closed & Latched
- Loose Gear Stowed
- Drawers Latched
- Blinds Raised
- Cab Seats Clear of Slide
- Slides Retracted
- Engine Started
- Cable TV Coax Stowed
- Water Hose Drained and Stowed
- Shore Power Disconnected, Cable Stowed
- Propane Off (unless fridge running)
- Master Battery Power On
- Porch Light Off
- Step Light Off
- Coach Door Locked
- Exterior Storage Doors Latched and Locked
- Leveling Blocks Stowed
- Tires and Tire Pressures Checked

Thanks- Olympia? Might see you around. We are with TT so Long Beach and Oregon Coast a lot. We believe in check lists and keep a (ship’s) log. My Navy days must have stuck.

Since you're used to boats...
If a boat is a hole in the water into which one throws money: RVs have the same relationships with the woods!

I am finding that RVing is way less expensive than boating. Not cheap but everything in boating cost more partly because the RV only has one engine.. We loved it for 30 years but we wanted to spend a few years traveling the interior and to Alaska. We can’t wait to get going.

It’s funny you would think with all the big lakes near us there would be a lot of great places. There is a little place called Sedlmyers on spirit lake that we really like. Really we like to get to Montana it’s only a couple of hours away.

Welcome aboard with your new land yacht. This is a great place to hang out and search for or ask questions. We got guys in here like Bob who knew Moses. :-)

Thanks- we are in our first trip and found a couple things: the convection microwave is awesome but took a search on goggle to find someone that knew how to start the freakin thing. And a little issue with the city water connect. First world problems.

Great checklist - not gonna lie....I've already copied and printed it! We have yet to take any trips in our MH that we've had for all of two weeks.
Cheers!
