Hello all and thanks for all the great information.

I started with a sleeping bag in a truck bed, next a slide-in camper. A pop-up towing an aluminum bass boat, a 21' class "C", then 50,000 miles in a diesel pusher. Then a 38' pull type and now another class "a". Amazing what 45 years can encompass.
I find a difference between camping and traveling. The best 4 door diesel pickup still isn't large enough for grandkids to TRAVEL, lol.
I have read all of Jerrys 240+ posts and most posts on modifications.
I had several years at Cummins technical research center so have a hard time with anything remaining factory.
It feels great getting back into the lifestyle! I had truly missed it and my children/grandchildren enjoy it more than myself!
Again, Hello everyone!
Leroy

Welcome to the forum!

My first vehicle camping was also a sleeping bag in the back of a pickup. The layer of oat straw under the sleeping bag was soft, but full of noisy crickets!

Looking forward to your contributions as you work on your latest "RV kit!"

My first overnighters were spent in the sand pits of Netcong, NJ. I lived in Pershing Estates. My best friend lived near Budd Lake. I used to push/ride my motorcycle to his house on the weekends with a sleeping bag and small backpack filled with food. From there, we used to ride a combination of roads and trails to the sand pits, gather wood for a fire and use the old scout kits to cook meals.

Come Saturday morning, the pits filled with locals and their bikes. We raced on improvised tracks and/or trail rode.

Definite good times.

Welcome back and safe travels.

Welcome to the forum. Your start sounds similar to mine, especially the aluminum bass boat. I caught more fish with the little aluminum boat than I did with my larger boat because with the larger boat I did more driving than fishing.

Thank you all very much for the kind welcome!

With our backgrounds, I am sure we could have some great times!
I of course still fish. Gave up the 4 wheelers for razors. Much safer and capable. Especially when the grandkids or my wife are involved, lol
The Harley just kinda gets neglected. Not sure if it is my age or the ability of the driving public that worries me most??
