Hi from SW Colorado

Hi, Tom here from Salida, CO.

I started RV'ing with a used 1972 VW Camper. I think marginal probably describes it. Two engines and 100,000 miles of good times.

Later I bought a new 1984 Westfalia Vagagon. That was a great little camper that lasted about 10 years before the engine blew and I decided to sell it.

Fast forward to a car camping family of four, when we bought a Coleman folding tent trailer and enjoyed that for many years.

Today, the kids are grown and Kelly and I are looking forward to getting another camper van.

I joined this forum because we are looking at the Thor Sequence 20K Class B Campervan. It seems to be a great layout with lots of standard features.

Hi, Tom,

Welcome to the best forum around. Your handle W9TR sounds like a ham call sign. If so, do a search for "Ham Radio Operators" and sign in on that thread. It would be nice to have all hams listed in one thread.

Thanks Bob and Carol for the warm welcome. Yes, W9TR is my amateur radio callsign. I'll stop by the ham thread and say hello.
Tom

Yes indeed. Welcome! I had a ‘71 VW camper van too. A loooong time ago. Many happy trips in it. There was a young couple in a vintage Westfalia Vanagon at a campground we stayed at last summer and I found myself envious of the simplicity of their setup. If I was young and single....!

Thanks

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Pete - we had a lot,of fun in our VW campers but there is no going back. This time around we are looking for a few more creature comforts. And the ability to go over a pass at more than 25 mph.

Tom

Had a VW "bus" in the early 70's. Wouldn't pull a greasy string from a cat's behind but it sure was tons of fun...back when nothing fancy was fancy.

Yup. When my wife and I were young and tent camping we used to laugh at retired old couples with fancy Class A coaches and cute little lap dogs. Now we ARE them! And loving it. Click image for larger version

We started coming to Salida 25 years ago when we lived in Olathe. My kids learned to ski at Monarch. We were able to see how the town was progressing and decided to move here when I kicked my soul-sucking corporate job to the curb. Love it here.

Amazing ! About 35 yrs ago we made a trip to Sports complex at CO Springs for a clinic...and continued across to Pagosa Springs..(then down to NM to see family) ....I told my husband at the time, I could move out here in a heartbeat...well, we didn't as we were self employed … yada yada...but, have certainly enjoyed seeing Salida grow in a positive direction as well as the rest of southern Colorado !
