Hi there

Hello!

I just got a Thor Four Winds Sprinter 24HL.

It looks good, drives well, and feels comfortable. I've already began outfitting it with the usual accessories and watching videos on youtube about other things that will make being new to RV ownership much easier.

I'll take any advice people have to offer here as well since people here are likely more experienced than I with RV camping.

I won't be doing any full time camping or anything like that but some longer duration trips than just a single weekend here and there are plausible so any advice there will be helpful too.

A friend told what he does hto keep his waste hose in the dump. Fill a bag with sand fill zip lock bag or use a sealameal to hold the sand in, I used about 2lbs of sand, keeps the hose from coming out, enjoy your new RV

A way of life

Welcome to this wonderful forum. Week end camping is the best way to get to know your rig. I started not to long ago with small trips no more then 250 miles from home and got all little problems fixed. I am now confident in my MH for my 4 winter months in TN, MS & FL from Quebec Canada.

Happy trails.

Good Luck Happy Touring. Only piece of advice Take It Slow. RVing is the experience. Not how fast you get there, how many places in a year, or the why did I buy this as it sits in the driveway. It's the people you meet ( this site and camp sites ), the adventures with a story ( good or bad ), and the planning for your next get away with anticipation.

X2 on this. Enjoy every mile, every new face and every new place and roll with the inevitable “issues” that come up along the way. It’s a big beautiful country. All the best in your adventures.

Start with a one nighter at a full service reputable RV park close to where you live. Then do a series of 2 nighters. Then do a 4 nighter. Then do an 8 nighter, etc. This has given me time to really learn how to drive the RV, set up the RV, reduce what's really needed, and if we want to make any corrections we only have to put up with it for a day or 2. Florida State Parks have been very nice (and inexpensive) for us and I'll bet Indiana has some nice state parks also.

It might be a large trip very soon, but since I am a 6 month old RV'er, I am looking very forward to picking the brains of the long timers at the rally coming early October 2018.

Yeah, the ones where you 'learned something', those are the ones you remember.

I used Liquid Nails and glued 2 8" by 8" pieces of cinder block, to make a right angle. Fits perfectly over the hose end and holds that thing in there!!! I also coated it with Plasti-Dip to be able to wash it, just in case.

Yeah, they are supposed to have threads so your 90 degree end fitting will screw in. 2/3 rds of the time the threads are stripped or don't exist. Maybe I should get a small sandbag?

Like this mod. Any pics? The ability to wash it off if you need to is perfect. Also does it store easy in the basement.

I'll have to get to the storage area and take a pic for you.
